Maybe Mortimer's best

Michael Hordern was the first and best portray-er of the hapless Old Bailey barrister. You will never get to see this original made for TV short film. I was lucky to see it and have been in wonder of its excellence for 60 years now. Watch other available films that had Hordern in the cast. Always the dependable first rate performer. Read John Mortimer's play or watch Peter Seller's version of the play to get a sense of the content. Unfortunately you won't be able to see Hordern in this one-of-a-kind masterpiece. John Mortimer went on to international success with his series of Rumpole stories and their TV episodes. These are available to viewers today. Anyone that enjoys the skilled use of the English language will receive real moments of joy and laughter.
