I watched the episode which they were travelling Florance and they didn't show anything other than them talking to each other about history and other things. They could have said those things while showing streets, statues or buildings...
I adore this show and this man. He has an off beat humor that I can see some reviewers dont appreciate, but I can't get enough of! You have to listen carefully, his comments and narration have had me laughing even days later. This is not a show for people looking for a serious and in depth look at a destination. Rather, it's for the quirkiness of each locale and the unusual offerings you might otherwise miss. I happened to love the fact that he went to Paris, looked at the line for the Louvre, and noped out. It's kind of fantastic. Go get a certificate and make macarons instead! I enjoy the fresh take, the litany of facts, his incredibly dry and glib persona. It even makes me laugh to see when some of his guests not know what to make of him, and delight when they take him in stride and just enjoy the unexpected journey. A treasure.
*I've never reviewed a show or movie ever*I really just get a kick out of him*
Richard brings his comedic charm to the series, while still providing a detailed overview of sites and expectations for each destination. The celebrity guests are an added bonus. This show is well done!
No offence to people who make travel shows such as Martin Clunes (and a few others) but they're boring.
However Richard puts a new spin on it, I actually hate travel shows yet he's managed to make me watch almost every episode. The man is comedy genius.
The odd clothing, the hair, the phrases he comes out with. It all comes together to make a brilliant tv show.
And for those who get bored of him, he has a celebrity guest each trip to keep it fresh. (And they're not washed up has beens either)

The dry humour of Richard Ayoade is beyond compare; seemingly mundane happenings are made hilarious by this absolute hero as he travels around various countries and cities experiencing what they have to offer, as well as giving sound travel advice. His quiet sarcastic comments to foreigners who don't fully understand him brings a joy that is difficult to find elsewhere. Every episode brings several minutes worth of uncontrollable laughter, which is hard to find elsewhere. Richard Ayoade is by far my favourite comedian at the moment, anything he lends his hand to is pure gold. I look forward to anything else he may be appearing in, particularly if the rumours of the Great British Bakeoff are true.
I could watch this show on repeat indefinitely forever.
