Kind of useless

Lame, boring, what could have been interesting was wasted. The plot is stupid and full of holes and the acting is average. It doesn't have a point or a real structure. Bad movie.

Pretty Bad But I Liked It Anyway

A lesbian family member is getting married and the family is going to spend the weekend on the site of a disused government fort for the ceremony. When they get there they find that her partner's family live by a very old fashioned and austere regime; almost like you would imagine oldy-world, strict Catholics to be. They say they're descended from the persecuted families of Salem, but are they as simple and innocent as they seem?

I've given this a 4 instead of a 3 because I quite enjoyed it and I managed to watch it right to the end. I nearly gave it a 3 because of the music score which grated on my nerves, throughout. Music is a subjective thing, so I could be being too judgemental here, but this has to have the worst music score I have ever heard in any film I've seen. Some may think it's appropriate for the atmosphere of the film; I thought it was absolutely awful and spoiled the whole thing (for me). That said I tolerated it and got through the movie. Did I regret watching it? No! Would I put it on again if a friend came round? Maybe as a warm-up movie if we had something better to watch afterwards.

Wow, I'm bored....

Hubby and I (both horror fans) are watching 7 Witches now. About the only highlights - on a comical level - are the multiple "scary food scenes." As hubby cackled before escaping to the kitchen to make dinner: you can't spell Cinnabon without Sin! (But man - even one Cinnabon would be a LOT better than this film!) :P

Unbelievably Bad

Kate (Persephone Apostolou) travels with her former fiancé Cody (Mike Jones) to the house of her estranged parents for the wedding of her lesbian sister Aggie (Megan Hensley) with Rose (Danika Golombek). Kate and Cody pose as if they were engaged and after the lunch party with her family, they head to a remote place where Rose's family lives. They have dinner with the weird family of Rose that wears black and they go to the beach for the pagan ceremony. However Kate and her aunt Paula (Macall Gordon) stay behind since Paula is not feeling well. Soon they discover the creepy secret of the dark family.

"7 Witches" is an amateurish horror B-movie unbelievably bad. As previously mentioned in another reviews, the storyline is original and had potential. Unfortunately the screenplay and the execution are awful and in the end watching this film is a waste of time. Last but not the least, the viewer sees a bunch of cannibal killers and no witchcraft despite the dumb title. My vote is two.

Horrendously bad movie

I have never bothered to rate a movie before but this movie has certainly inspired me to do so - and not for the reasons you might think. This is an horrendous production which is so bad that you are actually glad it was only 70 minutes long - yet looking back I regret not having ended the movie after just 10 minutes. The acting is really bad, the story line extremely predictable and corny and there is absolutely no suspense. You find yourself watching this movie in the hopes that it will eventually pick up but you are left disappointed to say the least. The movie ends almost as abruptly as this review.

Don't waste precious time watching this crap

Awful script, awful acting, awful music (the worst of all), i might have missed a category for godawful movies for a special group of people or something or it was school project by children and in that case i give them an A.

Even skipping trough it didn't make it go fast enough.

Art-House pretensions that actually work

I can honestly say that this will be one of the talked about films of 2017. It is beautifully filmed in faded splendor, an almost black and white film of discordant images, jarring score and an all-encompassing sense of dread.

The costumes the witches wear are beautiful, the more you look at them, the more detail you see. The character actors playing the witches are visually stunning, even though most of them don't have any dialogue. All I want to tell you about the plot to this film is that it takes place at a wedding ceremony set near a forest, along a coastline that is shrouded in fog. More than that you should not know. DO NOT watch the trailer to this film!! It gives everything away.

The film is only 71mins long. Just long enough to get all the hair on the back of your neck standing up. The film is almost art-house in design and execution, but just remains this side of mainstream so as to be accessible to all. It is not a film that relies on gore for effect, but rather places the audience into a very uncomfortable atmosphere.

If you enjoy films such as "The Witch", you are going to want this for your collection!

7 Witches

The bad reviews this film has received are well warranted, not because the acting is rubbish - it isn't that bad. Not because the script is rubbish - that isn't so bad either. Simply because it is unintelligible. Okay, we understand the victims have been lured to this remote spot by a family of witches; one of them is a killer, and that initially only one of them is a killer. And cannibalism appears to come into the equation, but if you don't understand what is going on...Okay, if there is a psychopath on the loose and he is killing people at random, there is nothing more to understand, but when there is an apparent rational motive albeit a supernatural one...

Obviously made on a very low budget, it grossed less than most A List actors earn in a day. Hopefully the younger members of the cast will go on to bigger and greater things, a very easy task.

Don't waste your time

seriously folks, ain't worth it. Don't waste your time. Forget, about the story, screenplay, acting, etc. The music alone will kill you! And I'm not kidding, everything in the movie is so lame, let alone the plot. Sgain the biggest killer is the music, the flow is more like a drama with all the repetitive talkings.

Not witches, more like cannibals

Very stupid film with misleading title. Nothing connected to witchcraft in this; just one or two random references to Salem.

More like a lousy cannibal slasher film. No idea why they kept showing all the seafood preparations though.

Maybe the director wanted to be on masterchef or something.

7 Witches: How a story with potential was 'burned at the stake'

If you're wondering where you were going to get your next 'horror' fix with just enough LGBT inserted into the storyline to make it more contemporary, look no further, 7 Witches has got you covered. Provided that little nuances such as good acting and competent direction AREN'T in that same search, you should still be on the right track with this film.

Now don't let that very minimal subplot get in the way of your attempt to enjoy this. There's no sjw grandstanding, socio-political message, or even mildly gratuitous girl-girl action going on. If I had to guess, I'd say the only reason it exists at all is to more easily propel the story and have some minimally 'erotic' scenes of women kissing, to clip for the previews in the theaters.

There are actually several positives here. The story in and of itself is one that seems somewhat original (baring other 'family' flicks of similar genres) and the cinematography is more than pleasant, going so far as to be called "well done". We have capable camera work, as well as lighting and a script that by all standards of "independent", "art-house" or even major released films, should be at the least moderately passable.

The main problem with this witch's kettle is in the execution.

For all the stirring we get in this cauldron of suspense the final result is barely a sleeping potion. The most obvious 'ingredient' mistakenly substituted in this b grade brew of bedlam being bad actors instead of good ones. It is quite clearly the single glaring flaw in the entirety of the production and one that continuously bubbles over from the first delivered line to the very last scene.

View it for the many merits it does possess, but use the broom for sweeping (under the rug) because the 'magic' it needs to make this film fly won't be found here.

I really disappointed

I was looking for a horror movie, and i found this one. The starting of the movie has seemed to good, but it was a total of time wasting. However the description was looked so good, but the movie was a hell. That's true, the pictures and other things were good. If i could, i would give a 0/10 for this movie as rating. It is one the most terrible films that i have ever seen.

a pleasant surprise

i wasn't sure what to expect from the trailer. the film has mostly negative reviews and a 3.7/10 rating on IMDb, but any film that appears to feature gay witches is one i have to check out for myself, and this one was a very pleasant surprise

written, directed and scored by Brady Hall of Hello, My Name Is Dick Licker, which i haven't heard of but sounds interesting. it's a slow-moving, atmosphere-and-character-driven art film that takes a while to get into before picking up pace about halfway through. the story is interesting but doesn't really come together to form a clear picture until the end, which i don't want to spoil

shot in a wooded area near the sea in Washington state, i believe, the location could be a lovely spot to vacation but, through a desaturated filter and accompanied by the film's droning ritual ambient score, feels more dreary and intimidating. the acting is competent, with outstanding performances from Persephone Apostolou and Macall Gordon as the strong female leads, neither of whom i've heard of before before, but i'll definitely keep an eye on them in the future, as well as on Brady Hall

having not read any other reviews of this film as of yet, i can't imagine why it was so poorly received. it's a relatively short and solid ride at an hour and 15 minutes long, where a lesser director might have added 15 minutes of superfluous dialogue or lingered on a few scenes longer than necessary, recommended for fans of budget art horror or anyone curious to see what the horror genre has to offer beyond Hollywood

Enjoy for what it is....

What can I say....for all of its absurdity...I enjoyed it. I was glad to see that pretty much everyone dies! I like looking at the great North West...and films with absolutely no real plot to speak of and badly drawn cliché characters. The ending was...well....it just was. I did enjoy Persephone Apostolou! So just turn off your mind and enjoy the wonderful world of non-thought.

Confusing Title Name

It was not very good, but anyway the themes were quite pressuring. I don't understand why they named it like that 'cuz there weren't any witches. I thought the movie would be about witch-hunting or something like that, yet it turned out surprisingly confusing and disappointing.

fantastic soundtrack

One of the best modern witches movie i've seen in years. High class atmosphere - wonderful pics! And there is a fantastic soundtrack composed and performed by director Brady hill! Hope this is going to make it on CD or perhaps even on vinyl! And hopefully we will see more of actress Persephone Apostolou in the near future!
