The official X account of Science Saru announced on May 25, 2024, that Ghost In The Shell is getting a brand new anime adaption, titled The Ghost In The Shell, by the studio. It is set to premiere in 2026.

A teaser trailer and a key visual were unveiled to commemorate the announcement.

Further information on the anime are yet to be announced.

Ghost in the Shell is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Masamune Shirow. It was first serialized in Kodansha’s seinen manga magazine Young Magazine Zokan Kaizokuban from 1989 to 1991.

Animation studio Production I.G has produced several different anime adaptations of Ghost in the Shell, starting with the 1995 film of the same name.

The film was followed by a sequel titled Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, released in 2004.
