Two good character performances not enough to overcome pedestrian plot
Though both Livio Lorenzon and Walter Barnes give good salty character performances, that is not enough to redeem this lackluster film with a pedestrian and predictable plot. Lex Barker is wasted in this muddled attempt at a pirate action adventure with nary a swash buckled throughout. It may be better in the original language, but the English dubbed version is a clunker. Lex Barker, a durable performer made many inferior films late in his career and unfortunately this is one of the least presentable of his European films. Fans of this genre would do better to watch his "Pirates of the Coast" of "The Pirate's Captive" instead which are much better examples of this genre.
