Fernando was born with cerebral palsy in Rio de Janeiro and moved to the United States with his family in 2006. Because of the different school calendars, he had to complete 8th grade in one semester while learning English from scratch, receiving several awards for his accomplishments. He later went to Georgia State University as an Honors College student for a double major in journalism and film, and completed his graduate studies in film production.
His media experiences include being a Social Media Strategist and Voice Manager for Wellstar Health System, as well as a freelance editor and writer for Suellio Almeida on YouTube (115k subscribers).
Over the years, Fernando collected several writing and film awards, including the Atlanta Press Club Ralph Emerson McGill Award, Best Fiction Film at the High Museum of Art, and the Gold Script Award at the Hispanic International Film Festival.
