Daniel Kautz's primary work is as a Gaffer for Television films and independent features. He has worked on notable Indie projects such as Star Trek Renegades and Allan the Dog , as well as TV films such as Love on the Rise, Into the Arms of Danger and Stalked by my Doctor 4.
Born in the San Francisco bay area Daniel began his pursuit of film in his early youth. Growing up on Mel brooks comedies, Spielberg Films, Star Trek, and Star Wars, Daniel soon found himself seeking a career creating worlds and crafting stories. Daniel's First film "Raley Wars" was a Star Wars spoof featuring a dog, Raley battling Star wars characters made on Hi8 video. Using toys as actors, paper held in front of the camera for text crawls and no filmmaking experience, the film was a cinematic "masterpiece".
In Daniel's high school years he would earn his Eagle Scout Rank for a Documentary Film Newark of Yesteryear which told the story of his hometown Newark through interviews and photographs. The film was recognized by the city and shown in school classrooms granting Daniel the city's Volunteer of the year award. From there Daniel attended San Francisco State University where he studied Lighting and Directing. Jalopy would be Daniel's Thesis film, a short Sci-Fi film written and Directed by Daniel, shot on 35mm film with practical constructed sets and utilizing anamorphic lenses. After graduating in 2013 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, Daniel began to work on feature films in the San Francisco bay area before moving to Los Angeles.
Daniel has over 15 features completed as Gaffer and numerous more shorts including television ads, and lifetime films. As of 2020 Daniel resides in Los Angeles working as a Gaffer and DP.
