His favorite movie, when he was a kid, was Toy Story (1995).

Although he has always had an interest in animation, he became interested in live action after seeing Halloween - A Noite do Terror (1978) as a teenager.

According to the Illumination Cinema Movie Podcast, some of his favorite movies include: It's Such a Beautiful Day (2012), Pulp Fiction: Tempo de Violência (1994), O Gigante de Ferro (1999), A Rede Social (2010) and Os Caça-Fantasmas (1984).

I like making movies about broken people, who break even further.

On every film, I have a moment where everything kind of slows down and I suddenly think, 'Wow, we're actually making a movie right now. This is actually happening'.
