‘Danger Force’ Director Mike Caron Launches Production Company & Developing Series Adaptation Of ‘Monster Kid Detective Squad’

Exclusive: Mike Caron, director of Nickelodeon’s Danger Force and Paramount+’s Fairly Odd Parents: Fairly Odder, is branching out on his own.

Caron has launched his own production company Mike Caron Productions and has set a small-screen adaptation of mystery series Monster Kid Detective Squad as one of his first projects.

He is looking to develop projects in the family space.

Monster Kid Detective Squad is set in Frightsville and follows characters such as Elsie Frankenstein, a super-strong young monster, Sherry Dracula is a young, headstrong vampire and Rico Gillman, a young sea monster.

The book series is written by Jason Henderson and In Churl Yo and published by Castle Bridge Media. Caron has brought on Bunheads duo Grant Levy and Dominik Rothbard to adapt the series with him.

Caron has worked on over 500 episodes of television including directing Danger Force, in which he also occasionally appears as the villain Deuce Van Nuys.

Emily Rutherfurd Stars In ‘Work Mom’ Pilot, Jennie Garth In Talks For ‘Mystery Girls’
The New Adventures Of Old Christine alumna Emily Rutherfurd has been cast as one of the two leads in ABC Family‘s comedy pilot Work Mom, written by Grant Levy and Dominik Rothbard. The workplace comedy follows Heather, who finally gets promoted at her digital marketing firm, and winds up hiring her vivacious, recently unemployed mother, Eden (Rutherfurd), who mixes up the office in a way no one could have predicted. Jennie Garth is in talks to join Tori Spelling in another ABC Family comedy pilot, Mystery Girls. Sources are optimistic about the deal, which would reunite the former 90210 co-stars. Comedy Starring Tori Spelling Among Three Half-Hour Pilot Orders At ABC Family
ABC Family has greenlighted three new comedy pilots: Mystery Girls starring Tori Spelling, Work Mom and Young & Hungry, exec produced by Ashley Tisdale. The network has been looking to expand its current comedy portfolio, which includes Baby Daddy, renewed for a third season, and Melissa And Joey, picked up for a fourth. Mystery Girls follows a former starlet (Tori Spelling) who is roped into solving crimes with her former mystery TV show costar when a witness to a crime will only speak to the infamous Mystery Girls. Beverly Hills, 90210 alumna-turned-reality star Spelling and Maggie Malina (Single Ladies) serve as executive producers.
