Billy 5000 (Jack Corbett) is a teenager living in Florida and determined to gig work his way to five-thousand dollars. Fans may be ready to return to Cousins Beach for a third and final time when The Summer I Turned Pretty returns on Wednesday, but Prime Video is giving a warning ahead of time.

The official social media account for the Prime Video series on Monday cautioned viewers against bullying and hate speech ahead of season three premiere, which will offer the last chapter in Tsitp universe and a conclusion to the series’ ongoing love triangle.

“Cousins is our safe place,” the post read. “Everything good, everything magical. Let’s keep the conversation kind this summer.

“We have a Zero tolerance policy for bullying and hate speech. If you engage in any of the following you will be banned,” the post added before listing “community guidelines” including no “hate speech or bullying,” “targeting our cast or crew” and “harassing or doxxing members of the community.”

It’s been a relatively quiet year for A24 so far, but one of the studio’s upcoming films just got an exciting new look. A24 has debuted the first trailer for Sorry, Baby, the upcoming drama starring Eva Victor, who will also make her screenwriting and directorial debut on the film. Sorry, Baby follows Agnes (Victor), a woman who deals with the troubles in her life while watching everyone else go about their daily lives as if nothing is happening. In addition to Victor, Sorry, Baby also stars Naomi Ackie, who opened the year by starring opposite Robert Pattinson in Mickey 17. Sorry, Baby premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and earned a 95% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, including an 8/10 review from Collider’s Ross Bonaime.

Set mostly in the fictional Cousins Beach, the drama series features the coming-of-age of Isabelle “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung), who grew up going to Cousins every summer with her mom Laurel (Jackie Chung) and brother Steven (Sean Kaufman) with Laurel’s best friend Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) and her sons Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno). Belly has been in love with Conrad ever since she could remember, but she also has feelings for Jeremiah. He was her first kiss, after all.

There will have been a two-year break between seasons when season three of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty finally debuts. The streamer announced a July 2025 launch of the coming-of-age series’s third and final season and released the season’s first teaser poster.

According to Prime Video’s announcement, season three will have 11 episodes. The first season premiered in June 2022 and had seven episodes, while season two released its eight episodes in July and August 2023.

Season two’s cast included Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno. Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, David Iacono, Elsie Fisher, Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, and Kyra Sedgwick also starred. Prime Video hasn’t confirmed season three’s cast.

The Hollywood Reporter has brought word that Universal is shifting some of its upcoming release calendar around. One such movie getting a new release date is Minions 3, with the Despicable Me threequel spinoff now set for a July 1, 2026 date, taking over the slot from Shrek 5, which is now set for December 23 that same year. This also puts Minions 3 in theaters nearly a full year early, having originally been set for a June 30, 2027 release date.

Filmmaker Tyler Taormina quickly fell in love with IFC Films’ idea for how to market his merry-and-bright feature. The indie distributor’s trailer for “Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point” plays as a full-on throwback to how holiday season comedies used to be advertised, complete with baby boomer doo-wop, a long list of grinning cast members and a warm narrator promising that, “It’s more than a holiday. It’s a gift for the whole family.” But the nostalgic packaging came with an unforeseen side effect.

“A lot of the people online are like, ‘Oh, I thought it was a horror movie.’ It was a very common reaction that was not at all thought of,” Taormina shares. “Earnest nostalgia is not able to be detected. The irony is expected. It bummed me out.”

At the end of Peter Godfrey’s “Christmas in Connecticut” — the greatest Christmas movie of all time (don’t fight me on this) — beloved character actor Sydney Greenstreet, having just emerged from a comedy kerfuffle of epic proportions, can think of nothing more to do than throw his mighty head in the air and declare “What a Christmas! Ho ho, what a Christmas!”

I could also think of little else to say, at first, about Tyler Taormina’s peculiar and lovely “Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point.” What a Christmas indeed. The film is an eclectic hodgepodge of realism and dreamlike, dare I say Lynchian mannerisms. It’s set in the 2000s but it belts wall-to-wall mid-20th century pop hits, like a family-friendly cousin to Kenneth Anger’s “Scorpio Rising.” When Peggy March’s “Wind-Up Doll” drowns out the family playtime, you can half imagine the leathery biker tinkering in the garage.

Box office darling Anora, Sean Baker’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner from Neon, goes wide Friday after a slow platform, expanding to 1,104 screens as indies continue to bust onto screens. Searchlight Pictures’ A Real Pain adds eight locations, with Focus Features’ Conclave and A24’s Heretic continuing, and launching, respectively, in wide release.

A Real Pain starring Kieren Culkin and Jesse Eisenberg, who also wrote and directed, adds theaters in Los Angeles, New York and Toronto after a strong opening last weekend, when it took the third-highest per-theater average of the year. It goes to 900+ theaters across all major markets next week.
