The Pitt Season 2 Trailer Confirms Characters You Thought Were Gone Are Coming Back
Image
HBO Max just dropped the first teaser for season 2 of "The Pitt," its universally acclaimed and Emmy-nominated medical drama ... and not only are some unexpected familiar faces returning, but there are also some new doctors in the mix at the titular (and hectic) Pittsburgh hospital.

To be fair, both Patrick Ball and Katherine Lanasa, whose respective characters, Dr. Frank Langdon and Dana Evans, had every reason to leave the hospital at the end of season 1, previously confirmed that they'd be back for a second season, but it's still great to see them fully back in action. We barely see Langdon in the teaser, but we do see his grand return...

HBO Max has released the first footage from The Pitt season two via a teaser trailer showing some of the emergencies and characters treating them that viewers can expect on the Max original’s July 4th weekend-set second installment.

Fellow beleagured character Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball), who Robby kicked out of the emergency room in season one after he discovered the physician was hiding that he had been using drugs, is also shown returning and looking around the hospital.

The preview also features a quick glimpse of new emergency attending physician Dr. Al-Hashimi, played by Sepideh Moafi, anxiously watching a procedure with Robby, and returning castmembers Supriya Ganesh (Dr.

Noah Wyle in The Pitt (2025)
Rejoin the fray as a new shift starts in the teaser trailer for The Pitt season 2
Noah Wyle in The Pitt (2025)
The Pitt has been extremely popular with both fans and critics. In our own Alex Maidy’s 9/10 review, he wrote, “The intensity of this series will likely give a new generation of future doctors and nurses the boost they will need to take care of those in need. . If you like fast-paced drama without the frills of a standard formula procedural, The Pitt will be right up your alley.” It’s also been hailed by some as one of the most medically accurate shows ever.

Image
HBO Max has released the first trailer for “The Pitt” Season 2, with returning stars Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, Patrick Ball as Dr. Frank Langdon and more. The new season premieres in January.

The trailer shows Robby clocking in for a new shift on a new day at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency room. “The prodigal son returns,” quips one nurse as Robby walks in at the beginning of his shift, as Dana (Katherine Lanasa) — who apparently hasn’t quit her job, as she discussed doing in Season 1 — looks at him with raised eyebrows.

The new season will take place on the Fourth of July, which is also the first day back for Dr. Langdon after he returns from his inpatient rehab program. Robby ordered Langdon to attend rehab due to his drug problem in Season 1.

The Season 2 cast also includes Katherine Lanasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif,...

Here's How Robby And Langdon Will Reunite In The Pitt Season 2
Image
Season 1 of "The Pitt" was, to put it lightly, a rollercoaster. As we follow Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch through a hellish, chaotic, and sometimes even ridiculous 15-hour shift at an overcrowded Pittsburgh hospital, some of his fellow doctors go through some pretty serious stuff. Chief among them is resident Dr. Frank Langdon, played by newcomer Patrick Ball, who is, by all appearances, Robby's protégé ... which makes it particularly painful when Langdon does something so stunningly wrong (and illegal!) and betrays Robby's trust.

In a piece featured in Vanity Fair about the second season of "The Pitt," which is set to air in January 2025 and is in production as of this writing, Wyle talked about Langdon's return after his mandated rehabilitation program to deal with his prescription drug addiction. How is all of this going to work within the conceit of "The Pitt," in which every episode takes up a "real" hour?...

‘The Pitt’ Team Credits Noah Wyle’s Passion For Drama’s Success: “No One Really Leads In The Way He Leads”
Image
Shawn Hatosy admits to finding Noah Wyle “annoyingly articulate” when it comes to expressing his passion about The Pitt. He also can’t imagine doing HBO Max drama without the former ER actor.

Speaking at the recent Deadline Contenders at HBO Max event, Hatosy recalled the lack of preparation he had before joining the medical drama, especially in comparison to the young turks like Patrick Ball (who plays Dr. Frank Langdon), Isa Briones (Dr. Trinity Santos), Taylor Dearden (Dr. Melissa King) and Gerran Howell (Dr. Dennis Whitaker), who were cast to play the medical staff at the fictitious trauma center.

“They [the other cast members] did a couple of weeks of boot camp. And I kind of came in maybe a week before, and it really became an exercise of … being present,” said Hatosy, who was joined on the panel by Wyle (Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavich), Katherine Lanasa (Dana Evans), showrunner R. Scott Gemmill,...

Noah Wyle Takes 'The Pitt' to New Heights With Expanded Season 2 Role
Image
Noah Wyle has been at the heart of HBO Max’s breakout medical drama The Pitt, not just as its star, but also as an executive producer and writer. And while the show’s success is no doubt the result of a whole team effort, it’s hard to ignore the argument that The Pitt wouldn’t have risen relatively high without Wyle’s presence. Co-star Shawn Hatosy has even admitted, saying, “We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for him.” Wyle, however, has reacted humbly to such praise, redirecting that praise to the entire cast and crew. That said, the show seems poised for even more success...

6 exciting updates about The Pitt season 2 you probably missed
Image
HBO Max's breakout medical drama The Pitt is currently in production on its second season, but the cast recently took a field trip away from set to attend a panel at the TV Academy's Televerse festival in Los Angeles. With 10 cast members in attendance, The Pitt's panel celebrated the show's success (13 Emmy noms!), but along the way, some exciting updates and teases about The Pitt season 2 revealed themselves.

We already know that season 2 will follow a similar format to the first season, where each episode will cover a one-hour period from a single shift at the trauma center. We don't yet know when into the shift we'll start the season, but the season will take place over the 4th of July holiday (and I can already see the firework injuries piling up in the waiting room). Here's what else we learned about The Pitt season 2:

But not the needle part, just the plastic part," Rockwell said. "It's almost like I brought a gun to an audition. They were looking at me with this hypodermic thing... There was no needle! Just to be clear. I'm not that crazy." Rockwell added that he "though I nailed it."

Created by Michael Crichton, ER premiered on NBC back in 1994 and immediately established itself as the then-latest hit medical drama on TV. The series began with a star-studded ensemble cast including Anthony Edwards, George Clooney, Sherry Stringfield, Julianna Margulies, Eriq La Salle, and The Pitt star Noah Wyle. Over the course of fifteen seasons,...

Noah Wyle on ‘The Pitt’ Storylines Mirroring the Real World: “We Got Lucky a Few Times”
Image
Playing Dr. John Carter on ER made Noah Wyle a household name, but not necessarily an Emmy winner. At least not yet. Still, the actor logged one of the longest gaps in Emmy nominations — 26 years, to be exact. Finally, this June, the actor returned to the ballot, this time for The Pitt, the HBO Max breakout that’s dominating conversations in 2025.

“I’m a different person and it’s a little sweeter to have it as a second chance — a second act,” Wyle tells THR. “It feels really gratifying to be doing work that’s resonating with so many people again. The first time around, you don’t really have the perspective of knowing how rare that kind of success is. People could say, ‘This is amazing, how popular this show is. This doesn’t happen.’ But you don’t have a frame of reference for that kind of statement.

The Pitt Season 2 Adds Another Fresh Face To Its Cast
Image
The Pitt is plowing ahead with Season 2 and recently a new actor was added to the cast. According to Deadline, actor Lawrence Robinson, who has shows including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Sistas under his belt, has been cast in a recurring role.

The outlet says that Robinson will play Brian Hancock, "a sweet, charming, and kind-hearted patient who turns a soccer injury into a possible meet-cute with one of the doctors." But as for which doctor, that information is being kept strictly under wraps for now. There are certainly a lot of doctors to choose from. Among them are Noah Wyle as Dr. Robby, Taylor Dearden as Dr. Mel King, Supriya Ganesh as Dr. Samira Mohan, Patrick Ball as Dr. Frank Langdon, and Isa Briones as Dr .Trinity Santos.

Robinson is delighted to be appearing on the show. He took to Instagram to make a post about his gratitude.

'The Pitt' Season 2 Casts a 'Law & Order: Svu' Star
Image
Creator R. Scott Gemmill and leading star Noah Wyle are hard at work filming The Pitt Season 2, but they’ve just received some additional reinforcements in the way of a Law & Order: Svu star. Deadline reports that Lawrence Robinson, also known for his roles in Sistas and Tales, has joined the cast of The Pitt Season 2. Robinson will reportedly play Brian Hancock, a sweet, charming patient who comes into Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center with a soccer injury, but turns it into a meet-cute with one of the doctors. It’s unclear which doctor he’ll interact with, or if he’ll appear for more than one episode. The Pitt Season 2 is expected to continue filming for the next few months as it eyes an early 2026 release date, around the same time Season 1 was released earlier this year.

This new casting comes not long after it was reported that Tracy Ifeachor,...

‘The Pitt’ Adds Lawrence Robinson To Season 2 Cast
Image
Exclusive: The Pitt is expanding its Season 2 cast, adding Lawrence Robinson (Three Ways) in a recurring role.

Robinson will play Brian Hancock, a sweet, charming, and kind-hearted patient who turns a soccer injury into a possible meet-cute with one of the doctors.

Created by R. Scott Gemmill, The Pitt follows Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch’s (Noah Wyle) 15-hour shift as the chief attendant in the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s emergency room. Each episode is one hour in Robby’s frenetic day.

Offering a real-time format, the series traces, hour-by-hour, the medical cases and personal crises physicians and nurses must navigate as they reckon with an overabundance of patients and a lack of resources.

The series is led by Wyle, who also executive produces and writes. The ensemble cast also includes Katherine Lanasa, Taylor Dearden, Patrick Ball, Isa Briones, Fiona Dourif, Supriya Ganesh, Shabana Azeez, Gerran Howell and guest star Shawn Hatosy.

Anna Camp Is Really Bummed About ‘You’ Emmys Snub: ‘I Gave One of the Best Performances of My Life’
Image
Anna Camp was tuned in to catch the reveal of the 2025 Emmy nominations on Tuesday, hoping to hear her name called for her performance as twins on the Netflix series You. But to her dismay, her name was only found on the snubs and surprises lists.

“Me reading about the nominations this morning knowing I gave one of the best performances of my life while also trying to be happy for everyone and while also remembering I vowed to stop drinking during the week,” she wrote on Instagram. The caption...

Critics’ Conversation: 2025 Emmy Nominations Take a Typically Shallow Dive Into TV’s Best
Image
Daniel Fienberg: Say what you will about Emmy voters, but when they like something, they Really like it.

My biggest takeaway, as I’m picking my way through the nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, is how top-heavy the list is. Twenty-seven nominations for Severance! Twenty-four nominations for The Penguin! Twenty-three nominations apiece for The Studio and The White Lotus!

So many of these juggernauts received nominations so completely across the board — the dominance of White Lotus and Severance in the supporting categories is especially impressive — that I found myself more distracted by the standouts from those casts who didn’t get nominated than those who did. Where’s Rhenzy Feliz for The Penguin? Or Chase Sui Wonders for The Studio? Or Lisa from Blackpink for The White Lotus (or Carrie Coon’s vacation buddies, I suppose)?

It’s a myopia that leads to the consistent impression that...

Emmy Nominations 2025: Snubs and Surprises
Image
When we talk about snubs and surprises with this year’s Emmy nominations, we’re at times stretching each term. Some of the “snubs” mentioned below involve shows or performances that weren’t necessarily the best, but fit the pattern of the kinds of things that usually get nominated, while others were great but were expected to be ignored. And some of the surprises are more about matters of degree, rather than their presence at all. Let’s get to it.

Surprise: The Studio dominates

It was a great morning...

‘The Pitt’s Noah Wyle Teases Second Season: “Our Job Is Not To Outdo Ourselves. Our Job Is To Do Ourselves”
Image
While touting The Pitt‘s 13 nominations on Tuesday, Noah Wyle gave a hint about what to expect in season 2 of the HBO Max medical drama.

In April, executive producer R. Scott Gemmill, EP John Wells and EP/star Wyle appeared at Deadline’s Contenders TV in April and shared that the next 15 hours of The Pitt will take place over a Fourth of July weekend.

Season 2 will pick up 10 months after the final hour of Season 1, which wrapped on April 10.

Of the new season, Wyle tells Deadline, “it’s one of those things where you get in the room and you have a successful first season. Do we go bigger and better and louder and faster? Our job is not to outdo ourselves. Our job is to do ourselves. So think about what worked the first time and do it again. Don’t think about raising a bar on yourself.

‘The Pitt’ Receives 13 Nominations, Including Best Drama, Best Actor & Best Supporting Actress
Image
Updated: HBO Max’s hit The Pitt earned 13 nominations on Tuesday, including noms for Outstanding Drama and Outstanding Actor for Noah Wyle.

The freshman drama also logged nominations for supporting actress (Katherine Lanasa), guest actor (Shawn Hatosy), directing (John Wells and Amanda Marsalis), writing (Joe Sachs and R. Scott Gemmill), sound editing and casting.

“It’s going to sound trite to say, but I’ve already reaped so many benefits from this show,” Wyle told Deadline Tuesday about being in the Emmy conversation. “It’s been an answered prayer and beyond my expectation that even just being included in the conversation was enough for me. And sometimes you can win by losing, sometimes not being nominated. You can garner a lot of public sympathy and actually it’s better for the longevity of the area of your show. So I was very philosophical about it and thought, I’m happy with whatever comes our way.

HBO's ER Replacement Show Gets a Major Streaming Spike Following Disappointing Season 2 Update
Image
After a disappointing update about Season 2, The Pittmakes a major leap on the streaming charts.

Per Flix Patrol, HBO's The Pitt has officially broken through to the top ten overall streaming chart. Although The Pitt currently sits in the number ten spot, it may not be long before it starts overtaking less explosive competition like My Mom Jayne and Snatched, which currently sit in the number seven and nine spots on the list, respectively. The series has a long way to go before it approaches the top of the list, however, as Ryan Coogler's Sinners has maintained the number one spot for more than a week straight.

Created by showrunner R. Scott Gemmill, The Pitt premiered on HBO Max this past January and quickly established itself as the latest hit medical drama. The series, set within the emergency room of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital, referred to as "the pitt" by staff,...

The One Thing The Pitt's Taylor Dearden Wanted To Avoid For Dr. King
Image
"The Pitt" premiered on the soon-to-be rechristened HBO Max in January 2025, and even beyond the show's high-profile star, a big reason for the show's success is its astonishing ensemble cast. Wyle is flanked by small-screen staples like Katherine Lanasa (who plays longtime charge nurse Dana Evans) and Fiona Dourif (daughter of Brad Dourif and a horror icon in her own right), but there are also a handful of excellent newcomers like Patrick Ball, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, Supriya Ganesh, Isa Briones, and Taylor Dearden, just to name a few. Lanasa, Briones, and Dearden sat down with Variety in June 2025 to talk about the female characters on "The Pitt," and Dearden — who, yes, is the daughter of actors Bryan Cranston and Robin Dearden — set the record straight on one thing right away.

"I'm nothing like Mel," Dearden told interviewer Emily Longeretta. "We're both neurodivergent and that's it. We're done."

Dearden brought...

'The Pitt' Star Tracy Ifeachor Not Returning for Season 2
Image
The Pitt is set to return early next year, but fans of HBO Max's hit medical drama will be devastated to learn that a key cast member will not return. As filming for the upcoming second season is officially underway, it seems a fan-favorite character has been written out of the series. The short turnaround for The Pitt Season 2 will still see most of the cast return, alongside some key new additions.

Per Variety, The Pitt star Tracy Ifeachor will not be returning as Dr. Heather Collins in Season 2. The report claims that the decision came from the creative team to remove the character moving forward. Ifeachor did not leave the series on her own accord, Variety confirmed. It's an unfortunate update for fans of the series, especially those who consider her to be a key element in the main storyline alongside Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch (Noah Wyle). Collins' personal history with Robby,...

‘The Pitt’s Tracy Ifeachor Exiting, Won’t Return For Season 2 Of HBO Max Medical Drama
Image
There will be no Dr. Collins in Season 2 of The Pitt. Tracy Ifeachor, who portrayed Dr. Collins in Season 1, won’t be returning for the second season of the hit HBO Max medical drama, Deadline has confirmed.

Dr. Collins is a fourth-year resident at a teaching hospital in season one and will not be at the shift in season two, we’ve learned. The news was first reported by Deadline’s sister pub TVLine.

The confirmation comes one day after Ifeachor posted a slightly cryptic message on Instagram, saying “what a blessing” it was to be a participant on the first season, calling it an “absolute privilege to play Dr. Heather Collins in such a groundbreaking season and piece.” She made no mention of a second season.

Collins suffered a miscarriage halfway through the first season. It’s implied early on that she and Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch’s (Noah Wyle...

‘The Pitt’: Tracy Ifeachor Not Returning as Heather Collins for Season 2
Image
Tracy Ifeachor, who played Dr. Heather Collins in Season 1 of “The Pitt,” will not return for Season 2.

Sources tell Variety that the decision was made by the show’s creative team; Ifeachor is not leaving “The Pitt” of her own accord.

Dr. Collins is a senior resident at the hospital who has a close but sometimes strained relationship with Dr. Michael Robinavitch aka Robby (series lead Noah Wyle). She begins the season pregnant, trying to start a family through IVF and without a partner. She tries to keep her pregnancy a secret from her colleagues, then miscarries. Afterwards, she discusses it with Robby in a scene that reveals that they used to be a couple, and that she got pregnant and had an abortion during that time.

Along with Ifeachor and Wyle, Season 1 starred Patrick Ball, Katherine Lanasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez and Shawn Hatosy.

The Pitt Season 2 Is Putting Noah Wyle In A Completely Different Role
Image
It's been 20 years since Noah Wyle left "ER," and while he's worked consistently ever since, the actor never quite landed a show that had the same cultural impact as NBC's medical drama. That is, until "The Pitt," which has become nothing short of a sensation since its January 2025 debut on HBO Max.

While the series is another medical drama set in an emergency room, it is not a spin-off of "ER," (though a lawsuit alleges otherwise). Nonetheless, it very much feels as if we're catching up with Wyle's former medical student John Carter in "The Pitt," with the actor starring as veteran attending physician Dr. Michael Robinavitch. Wyle did an outstanding job of portraying the brilliant but beleaguered doctor in season 1, an accomplishment that becomes even more impressive when you find out he also wrote two episodes: episode 4, "10:00 A.M.," and episode 9, "3:00 P.M."

But saying...

‘Hacks’ and ‘The Pitt’ Win Top Honors From LGBTQ Critics at the 2025 Dorian TV Awards
Image
“Hacks” Season 4 won big at the 2025 Dorian TV Awards, the 17th annual awards show from Galeca: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics. Altogether, the Max comedy starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder won five awards, by far the most of any one series.

Those wins included Best TV Comedy, Best LGBTQ TV Show, Best Written TV Show, Best TV Performance — Comedy and Best Supporting TV Performance — Comedy. Smart and Einbinder took home the last two awards, respectively. This marked the third time Galeca named “Hacks” the Best TV Comedy. Einbinder’s win for Best Supporting TV Performance is the second time the comedian has won the honor. Additionally, Smart was named this year’s Galeca TV Icon, previous recipients of which include Jennifer Coolidge, Christine Baranski and Carol Burnett.

Though “Hacks” won the most awards this year, three shows this year — Max’s “The Pitt,” HBO and Max’s “Pee-wee as Himself...

Julianne Nicholson dances her way to the top of the Comedy Guest Actress Emmy predictions for ‘Hacks’
Image
Looks like Dance Mom will boogie all the way to the Emmy podium.

Julianne Nicholson, who played the joyous (and drug-addicted) character on Hacks Season 4, now leads the Best Comedy Guest Actress race, taking down longtime frontrunner Jamie Lee Curtis for The Bear, who won last year. Nicholson's Dance Mom, aka Mary Alice, was recruited by Paul W. Downs' Jimmy and Megan Stalter's Kayla to appear on Late Night With Deborah Vance as a way for the talk show-within-a-show to gain a younger audience. At first, Jean Smart's Deborah was hesitant to let the untested woman take the stage, until she realized it would annoy Hannah Einbinder's Ava, and then all bets were off.

There's a new Hacks tonight, but I have not yet recovered from Julianne Nicholson dancing to Katy Perry's "Lifetimes" as Dance Mom in last week's episode. pic.twitter.com/SH3OPittFI
