After celebrating the Hollywood Bowl’s 100th anniversary last summer, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association is back with big plans for its 101st year. The group announced the Bowl’s summer 2023 schedule on Tuesday, which will kick off on June 10 with Janet Jackson, who will be joined by Ludacris and musicians of the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles.

The annual July 4th Fireworks Spectacular will feature The Beach Boys performing with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and a special 90th birthday tribute for Quincy Jones will be held on July 28 and 29, with performances by a roster of special guests.

Former One Direction member Louis Tomlinson, Air Supply and Michael Bolton (on a double bill), Jill Scott, Gladys Knight, Herbie Hancock, Charlie Wilson, Kool & The Gang and the Village People (on a double bill), Sparks and They Might Be Giants (on a double bill), Culture Club and Maxwell will also be among this summer’s performers.

Publishing giant BMG has “failed and refused” to pay “Uptown Funk” royalties to the heirs of Gap Band members Robert and Ronnie Wilson after the brothers were credited as co-songwriters of the Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars mega-hit in a 2015 agreement, a new lawsuit filed in federal court in Manhattan claims.

The complaint filed Thursday by Ronnie’s widow Linda Wilson and Robert’s daughters Robin and Latina Wilson, among other heirs, alleges BMG has either “retained all funds due to plaintiffs for its own benefit and enjoyment” or “wrongfully diverted” the money elsewhere.

Actor Paul Walker and singer Jenni Rivera will be posthumously honored with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2023, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said Friday.

The news was revealed in a statement that announced next year’s two dozen honorees. The selectees were chosen from among hundreds of nominations and ratified by the chamber on Wednesday. Being named doesn’t automatically mean a star will be granted. Honorees have two years to take action on accepting the award, which carries a fee.

Ludacris, Bill Pullman, Thurman, Vince Vaughn and John Waters will receive stars in the motion pictures category, along with posthumous stars for Juanita Moore and Walker. In the television category, stars will be given to Jon Favreau, Kaling, Martin Lawrence, Ralph Macchio, Garrett Morris and Ellen Pompeo. The music and recording category will see the Jonas Brothers receive a collective star, alongside a posthumous star for Jenni Rivera and stars for Marc Anthony, Irving Azoff, Sheila E, Lenny Kravitz, Blake Shelton and Charlie Wilson. Lang Lang, Melba Moore, and the a cappella group Pentatonix will receive stars in the live theatre and live performance category.

The selections were announced by radio host Ellen K, the chair of the Chamber’s Walk of Fame selection panel, on Friday.

New York (AP) - Philip Seymour Hoffman, who won the Oscar for best actor in 2006 for his portrayal of writer Truman Capote in "Capote" and created a gallery of other vivid characters, many of them slovenly and slightly dissipated figures, was found dead Sunday in his apartment with what law enforcement officials said was a syringe in his arm. He was 46.

The two officials told The Associated Press that glassine envelopes containing what was believed to be heroin were also found with the actor.
