Raised in Sterling, Kansas, a town of about 2,000 people. After graduating from Sterling High School in Sterling, Kansas with the Class of 1997, she went on to attend the University of Kansas from 1997 through 2001. She graduated from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London in 2004.

Playing the part of Rosalind Franklin in the play Photograph 51 at the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York.

She was nominated for a 2017 Joseph Jefferson Equity Award for Supporting Actress in a Play for "Uncle Vanya" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
