Graduated from Liberty University, in Lynchburg, Virginia, with a Bachelor's degree in Business in 1993. She graduated from Florida State University, in Tallahassee, Florida, with a Juris Doctorate in 1996.

Her husband, Sheldon Bream, survived a brain tumor. He has a career at the Washington Speakers Bureau.

She began her TV career in 2000 in an entry-level job at WFTS-TV (Channel 28) in Tampa, Florida. When she left the station, she landed a reporting and anchoring job at WBTV, the CBS affiliate in Charlotte, N.C. She was there three years. In 2004, she joined NBC affiliate WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., as a weekend anchor. One day, she met Brit Hume, who was managing editor of the Fox News Washington bureau at the time. With his encouragement, she submitted audition tapes and was hired in 2007 by Fox News.

Crowned Miss Virginia in 1990 and competed in the Miss America 1991 pageant, where she was one of the ten semi-finalists. She was crowned Miss Florida USA in 1995 and competed in the Miss USA 1995 pageant, where she finished fourth overall. She is one of the few women to compete in both the Miss America and Miss USA pageants representing different states.

Started her freshman year at Liberty University in 1988 at age 17. Met her husband, Sheldon Bream, on the campus.

Graduated from North Florida Christian High School in Tallahassee with the class of 1988.

Her first job was helping her mother, Marie Norris, in renovating houses. She would use a scraper to scrape the paint off the window panes.

Joined Fox News Channel in the fall of 2007 in the network's Washington, D.C. bureau as the Supreme Court correspondent. She has served as a guest anchor on various network shows, became the Chief Legal correspondent in 2016, and was promoted to the anchor of her own series in 2017.

She says her teenage crush was Ricky Schroder.

Her favorite Christmas movie is Natal Branco (1954).
