Born in Bloomington, Indiana.

Niece of actor John Randolph Jones. Two of her aunts are also actresses.

Biked on a 1,000 mile bike trip that lasted for 12 days from Southern Indiana through Michigan and to Niagara Falls, Canada, and enjoys doing half marathons.

Her maternal great grandfather, Paul R. Heyl, was an accomplished physicist. In 1930, he determined the most accurate measurement ever made, and still to date, of the constant of gravitation (cavendish method). He also invented the Earth Inductor Compass. Charles Lindbergh used used an improved version of this compass on his flight across the Atlantic in 1927.

Her maternal great great grandfather, Henry Renno Heyl, invented the first camera to show pictures in motion in 1870 - the "Heyl Phasmatrope". The first exhibition of the Phasmatrope was that of a waltz, synchronized to orchestral music, and presented to an audience of 1,600 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In the late 1800's, he was an inventor of many things that we use today, including the stapler.
