David Richmond Gergen

A veteran CNN contributor and longtime Washington insider who served both Republican and Democratic presidents.

Columnist and political advisor.

First started working at the White House in 1971, where he started on the speech writing staff for President Richard Nixon within two years, he was leading the department.

He also was professor of public service and founding director of the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School.
