Due to a quirk of fate in visiting Paramount Studios at the right time in the summer of 1992, Malachy got the unexpected opportunity to appear for a few seconds as an uncredited extra on the Victorian streets of San Francisco in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation (Season 6: Episode 1: "Time's Arrow Part II").

In July 2011, The "Traverse City Lip Dub" was filmed in a single 7m20s long uncut take. During the first song, Malachy is the juggler in the background that can be seen on a street corner.
