Chance is a co-owner of the company NRG Esports alongside Alex Rodriguez, Shaquille O'Neal, Jimmy Rollins, and Tiësto.

Chance has two dogs, Buddy and Kevin. He prior had a cat named Finn who passed away. His fans have created a variety of artwork designs of his pets which he sells on his sodapoppin.shop merchandise store. A series about the designs can be found at Viewers Create My Merch (2021).

In 2019, Chance won a Dead by Daylight (2016) tournament placing him as the 25th (USA) and 31st (World) highest prize winner from the game's esports up until present day.

Adult entertainer Mia Khalifa publicly visited Chance on his live stream in Texas. A clip of the meeting has been viewed on Twitch 500,000 times, and 450,000 times in a compilation on Youtube.

In 2020, Chance was noted to be the streamer who started the Among Us (2018) craze, bringing it to financial acclaim in the gaming market.

Chance is known for placing games he is passionate about before monetary gain. In a stream with his brother Ryan Willett, a Texas-based lawyer, a legal deal was discussed. Ryan explained that Chance turned down a lucrative brand deal contract because World of Warcraft (2004) Classic was releasing and he preferred to commit to Classic. Ryan expressed that he was proud of his brother for not being a "sellout", maintaining integrity and putting passion in front of business.

In 2021, Twitch.tv experienced an internal breach which leaked streamer's earnings from the period of August 2019 to October 2021. Throughout this period Chance was ranked number #43 at $1,461,302. This revenue was calculated from Twitch bits, subscriptions, and adverts. This amount does not include donations, merchandise, sponsorships and other common sources of revenue for Twitch streamers. Chance owns two investment properties. He lives in Austin, Texas with Nick Polom and Malena Tudi.

Sodapoppin, upon request by Rob Malecki, obtained a Personal Mute for VRChat. A Personal Mute is a player who chooses not to speak and takes on the role of a stream viewer-entertainment sidekick. Chance chose a player called HappyThoughts to be his personal mute. Happy was revealed to have good gaming skills and won Chance a lot of Virtual Reality competitions amongst the community.

Chance started his streaming career on the platform Xfire whilst he was in high school. He then moved over to the platform Justin.tv, which was the original name of Twitch.tv. He has been streaming on Twitch.tv for over 10 years. Similar to other famous entrepreneurs he decided to stop his higher education and continue with his business pursuits. This lead him to being one of the most well-known faces on the Twitch platform due to his long-term dedication to streaming. At the time he started, streaming and Youtube were not viable career choices. So he was a forerunner to the industry.

In a tweet in 2021, Chance's mother revealed that if he was born 28 minutes earlier, he would have been born on Valentine's Day.
