Former assistant of director Prakash Mehra

Starred in the shelved movie Bruce Lee Memorial International "Baba"(1997) Starring Ram Sethi, Ali Khan,Saud Khan, Ashalata,Sadhu Meher, Music by Manjeet Arora, Directed by Rana Jaiswal.

Was going to direct a film in 1993, but it was shelved due to the Bombay riots.

In 2003, Prakashji and he tried to approach Amitabh Bachchan for a film. They even finalized a script. Unfortunately, things didn't work out as Prakash had heart surgery and Ram was busy acting in television serials.

He made some television serials, which he wanted to air on Doordarshan. The financier was an American and refused to pay a bribe to Doordarshan and the serials couldn't be aired.

Wanted to direct more films. But Prakash Mehra did not want Ram Sethi to go separate from him. So he always remained his assistant.

His elder son stays with Ram and works in an IT firm. Younger son Vikrant Sethi is married and settled in Australia.

Didn't have a house in Mumbai. Stayed with Shabana Azmi's cousin Ishan Arya who was a renowned cameraman.

In 1996 he wanted to start his own production house. Some of his friends and contemporaries approached him to help them set up their production house. They already had a financier and a director so his production house took a backseat and he started helping them.

Came to Bombay in 1962 to try his luck in films. His elder brother was involved in theatre. After finding no luck he left back New Delhi. He returned back two years later and made friends with Ravi Tandon.

1994, some television directors approached him with acting work. He was elated as he was getting paid Rs 2,000 per day. He worked in television for almost four years.

Brother named Kishi Sethi.

Debut in Zanjeer.

Also worked as body double to many big stars.

His acting career took off from Muqaddar Ka Sikander 1978 where he played character of Pyarelal Aware.Asrani was originally to do the role but due to heavy rains he couldn't make it to the shoot.Prakash Mehra then decided to cast Ram Sethi in the role who was his long time assistant.

Starred in the shelved movie Fan Productions "Ab Kya Hoga"(1997) Starring Guddu Rizvi,Brando Bakshi, Rajeev Raaj, Tina Ghai,Ram Sethi, Pramod Moutho,Gajendra Chauhan, Kiran Kumar. Music by Charles Srinivasan, Directed by Sohail Shaikh.

Made his directional debut with Ghungroo 1983.
