We received our first look at the poster last week and now, Netflix is giving us a look at the trailer for Monster: The Ed Gein Story. And this definitely seems to be leaning into the Psycho and Texas Chainsaw Massacre inspiration of Gein. Hunnam looks to be doing a great job in the role, though I can’t help but feel like these serial killer fetish shows are getting a bit out of hand. Hopefully this will be the last one for a while. Charlie Hunnam has gone psycho in the teaser trailer for Monster: The Ed Gein Story.

Hunnam has taken on the role of the famed serial killer for the third season of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan‘s Netflix anthology series. The horror offering releases all episodes Oct. 3 for what the streamer has called its most harrowing season yet.

The first footage (below) shows Gein’s home being investigated by police who are so disturbed they can barely go through what they find. The teaser trailer ends with a conversation between Gein and his mother (played by Laurie Metcalf) that is the thing of nightmares.

This first look follows the key art that recently introduced Hunnam as Gein, the infamous serial murderer and body snatcher often referred to as “the Butcher of Plainfield” who gained notoriety in the 1950s for his horrific crimes.

The third installment of “Monster,” Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s anthology series about notorious killers, will premiere Oct. 3 on Netflix. The latest season will focus on Ed Gein, a killer who influenced modern horror more than perhaps any other singular killer.

Known as “the Butcher of Plainfield” and “the Plainfield Ghoul,” Gein gained nationwide attention in the late 1950s when police discovered he exhumed corpses from local graveyards and used their flesh and bones to fashion keepsakes like lampshades and chairs. He also confessed to killing two women, Mary Hogan and Bernice Worden. Though he was found guilty of Worden’s murder, he was declared legally insane and sent to a psychiatric institution.

The film follows Jamie (Shipka) and Ben (Hiraga) as they realize, in their first semester of college, that they need to break up with their high school sweethearts Simon (Charlie Hall) and Claire (Ava DeMary) respectively because the relationships are holding them back. Their best friend Palmer (Caleb Hearon) offers to host a small soiré the night before Thanksgiving where they plan to break the news, but chaos ensues as a night of parties, absinthe, drugs and more combine to create a perfect storm of events.

Kiernan Shipka is opening up about her “quarter life crisis” amid the release of her new movie Sweethearts.

The 25-year-old actress, who celebrated her birthday last week, attended the premiere of her new Max movie on Monday night (November 18) at the DGA Theater Complex in Los Angeles.

Kiernan was joined at the event by co-stars Nico Hiraga, Caleb Hearon, Ava DeMary, and Charlie Hall, as well as director Jordan Weiss. The film begins streaming on Max on Thanksgiving Day.

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, which aired that same day, Kiernan chatted about how she was feeling amid turning 25.

Ryan Murphy has been at odds with the real Menendez brothers after the debut of the Netflix series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Even so, Murphy is teasing that he could be telling more of the brothers' story based on new update on their case.

Per Variety, Murphy is considering an extension of Monsters, teasing that he might make some additional episodes to serve as an epilogue of the season. This is in response to the news that a court hearing has officially been set for Lyle and Erik Menendez concerning the double homicide they carried out against their parents. Reportedly, new evidence has been submitted which may bolster the siblings' claims that they had been sexually assaulted by their father. Murphy is open to including this update as a part of the story, but only if the same actors were to return.
