It was reported earlier this summer that The Last of Us game creator Neil Druckmann and writer Halley Gross were stepping away from the Emmy-winning TV series to focus on a new game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Coming off their acclaimed turn as Ellie in the second season of HBO's The Last of Us, we have heard from a couple of different sources that Bella Ramsey is being eyed for a Marvel Studios role.

Whether this means that Ramsey has actually taken a meeting with the studio or is simply on their radar is not clear, but the actor wasn't about to confirm anything when asked about the rumors and whether they had any interest in following Pedro Pascal into the MCU at HBO Max Nominee Celebration Day.

After landing 16 Emmy nominations for season two of The Last of Us, its stars and creative team took a look back at the emotional season at HBO Max’s Nominee Celebration on Sunday.

Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Kaitlyn Dever, Joe Pantoliano and editor Timothy Good joined co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann at the event, with the season’s second episode — which sees Dever’s Abby brutally murder Pascal’s main character, Joel — the subject of much of the conversation.

“You’re so inside of it that you really kind of lose sight of what it will mean when a TV audience experiences episode two of season two,” Pascal told the crowd, and given that Joel also dies in the video game that the series is based on, “I’m like, ‘Well, everyone knows this is gonna happen,’ because I’ve just been living with it for such a long time.

The Arrowverse expanded massively following the launch of Arrow, with multiple spin-offs and an ever-expanding list of characters who soon helped create a more successful shared DC Universe than even the Dceu.

Interest in the franchise did fade over time, and the shows ended one by one as The CW started moving away from pricey scripted dramas. Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow were unceremoniously cancelled, but Arrow and The Flash did get pretty solid send-offs.

Over the years, we were treated to some huge crossovers. They started small with Green Arrow meeting the Scarlet Speedster, but eventually expanded into far-reaching, Multiversal events that even included characters from the wider DC film and TV worlds.

Talking to Michael Rosenbaum on the latest edition of his podcast (via Screen Rant), Caitlin Snow and Killer Frost actor Danielle Panabaker revealed that several cast members had issues with how they were compensated for these crossovers.

Ahead of Millie Bobby Brown’s final days as Eleven in Netflix’s critically acclaimed sci-fi drama Stranger Things, the actress will begin working on her next project from the streamer, Just Picture It. It's official: HBO boss Casey Bloys confirmed to Variety that The Last of Us won't return until 2027. Between that and the premiere of Harry Potter, 2027 is shaping up to be a major year for HBO.

Moving forward, The Last of Us will make significant changes onscreen and behind the scenes. Pedro Pascal's role as Joel is mostly wrapped. The story will move forward by showing us the events of season 2 from Abby's point of view, exploring the ongoing tension between her and Ellie (Bella Rasmey). As for the behind-the-scenes changes, expect a huge creative shift as Naughty Dog lead and The Last of Us game co-creator Neil Druckmann exits to refocus on the gaming world, leaving the HBO show in the capable hands of co-showrunner Craig Mazin.

Bloys expressed understanding about Druckmann's prior commitments, noting that he has "a full time job creating video games and running Naughty Dog.

The Last of Us might be Emmy-nominated, but it'll take a while before the show graces HBO screens again.

Speaking to Variety, HBO CEO Casey Bloys dropped more information about The Last of Us' future and how long it will take to adapt the rest of The Last of Us Part II. "The series is definitely planned for 2027," Bloys said regarding season 3's release date, though he revealed showrunner Craig Mazin "is still working it out whether it will be two more seasons or one more long season. First, the good news about this year’s Emmy nominees: Queer, Black, Asian and Latino performers made history. The less good news: Overall representation is down for people of color, especially for folks of Asian and indigenous descent.

The 2025 Emmy Nominations had seemed rather dull leading up to nomination morning, which, of course, meant we were in for a few surprises. Lo and behold, they came early and often. Below, we’ve got some of the big players and who really missed when it mattered most.

2025 Emmy Nomination Winners and Losers Winner: HBO

A massive haul for The Penguin helped lead the way for the multi-media TV network to secure a total of 142 nominations. This jumps the network up fifty nominations for last year, and even better news, they scored some truly inspired nominations. Alongside The Penguin, Hacks picked up 14 nominations, The Pitt picked up double nominations for Directing and Writing on its way to 13 nominations, and The Rehearsal picked up nominations. Even with underperformance from House of the Dragon and Dune: Part Two, the network was still able to secure 23 total programs with at least one nomination.

Emmy voters are still infected with The Last of Us, rewarding the zombified series with 16 nominations on Tuesday, including Best Drama Series. Notably, Season 2 of HBO's adaptation of the popular video-game series didn't get everything for which it submitted, and there are three notable snubs that are causing an uproar on social media: supporting actress Isabela Merced, and the standout episode "Through The Valley" in both directing and writing.

The Last of Us scored 16 nominations for the upcoming 77th Emmy Awards, bringing the series’ total to 40 across two seasons. The series won eight golden statuettes in 2024.

There have been few openly non-binary and transgender performers to be nominated at the Emmy Awards. In 2023, Yellowjackets star Liv Hewson declined to submit for the acting categories at the Emmys because the categories are separated to recognize male and female actors separately.
