Quentin Tarantino Reveals His Least Favorite Movie Genre
Image
Quentin Tarantino, known for his bold style and unique storytelling, has shared his thoughts on the one movie genre he avoids: biopics.

In a recent discussion, the acclaimed director explained why he doesn’t feel drawn to making films based on real people’s lives.

Tarantino, whose work includes classics like Pulp Fiction and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, said he sees biopics as limiting.

“I think it’s my least favourite genre. There’s hardly anybody whose story from beginning to end is very interesting. To me, those movies are showcases for actors, but they’re not really showcases for storytellers or directors,” he said.

For Tarantino, the...

"I'm not gonna make them martyrs... There will be no statues of them." An important lesson from history. It's set to premiere at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival next month before opening in theaters this November. Bryan Singer Shot Secret Israel Movie With Jon Voight Described as "Hotbed of Controversy"
Image
Former X-Men director Bryan Singer is looking to mount a comeback, and is doing so with a movie that sounds like a purposely controversial movie that will star a vocal Donald Trump supporter and centers on the State of Israel. Singer was once one of the most renowned directors in the world, having worked on multiple entries in the X-Men franchise, Superman Returns, and Bohemian Rhapsody. However, the director was fired from Bohemian Rhapsody midway through production, and shortly after, years of abuse allegations directed at Singer began to emerge, with the director not having worked in eight years and moving to Israel.

Variety reports that Singer shot a film in 2023 starring Oscar-winner Jon Voight.

Austin Butler doesn’t think an American should play James Bond
With Denis Villeneuve officially on board to direct the next James Bond movie, we do have to wonder if he’d bring any of his previous collaborators on board to take over the role from Daniel Craig. Austin Butler recently chatted with Sam Thompson on Hits Radio Breakfast Show, where his relationship with Villeneuve – who Butler played Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen for in Dune: Part Two – was brought up. And with Villeneuve helming Bond #26, Thompson...

Austin Butler Rules Out Playing James Bond but Might Still Fit the Franchise
Image
Austin Butler has once again dismissed the prospect of becoming the next 007. Although the actor once jokingly pitched himself as the first American James Bond in a clip from Teen Vogue, the Dune 2 star has no intention of walking in that direction. In an interview with Hits Radio, he called the idea of an American playing Bond sacrilegious, emphasizing that Bond should be British.

I don’t think that would be a good idea. Because I’m American. I could do an accent, but I think it would be kinda sacrilegious. Those movies meant so much to me. But I think, yeah, it’s gotta be somebody who is from your home country.

Russell Crowe Surveys the Battlefield in New Image From Hotly Anticipated WWII Drama

Russell Crowe embodies one of the biggest cogs in the Nazi war machine in a new image from Nuremberg. Crowe stars as Luftwaffe chief Hermann Goering in the post-World War II drama. The film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month before being released in theaters by Sony Pictures Classics on November 7.

In the new image, Crowe is decked out in full military regalia; Goering, a fighter pilot in World War I and head of Germany’s WWII-era air force, the Luftwaffe, was notoriously vain, and extremely particular about his grooming and wardrobe. The image depicts him striding across a debris-strewn battlefield, one of many that his...

Rachel Brosnahan and Jon Bernthal’s New CIA Thriller Is #1 on a Surprising Streamer

Rami Malek will always be remembered for his Oscar-winning performance in Bohemian Rhapsody, but earlier this year, he starred in a John Wick-esque action movie that is currently dominating a surprising streamer. Malek stars alongside Rachel Brosnahan(Superman) and Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) in The Amateur, the spy thriller following a CIA analyst who steps out from behind his desk and out into the field after his wife is killed, despite having no training. The Amateur recently began streaming on Hulu following a mildly disappointing box office run, and the film has been a major success, riding the #1 spot and yet to be dethroned.

In addition to Malek, Brosnahan,...

Edward Berger’s ‘Ballad of a Small Player,’ Rami Malek and Russell Crowe-Starring ‘Nuremberg’ Join San Sebastian Film Festival Lineup
Image
Edward Berger’s Colin Farrell-starring Ballad of a Small Player and Juliette Binoche’s directorial debut are among the latest additions to the San Sebastian Film Festival line-up.

The Spanish film fest, running Sep. 19-27, has on Tuesday confirmed that Berger’s Netflix film, also starring Tilda Swinton and Fala Chen, will premiere out of competition following his Conclave success at last year’s edition. The movie is an adaptation of Lawrence Osborne’s novel following an English con man on Macao’s gambling scene.

In the special screenings section, French actress Binoche will present her directorial debut called In-i In Motion. The film is a non-fiction work looking back at the experience of In-i, the hybrid dance and theater show produced by Binoche in 2007 with dancer and choreographer Akram Khan.

Truth director James Vanderbilt will screen his next project, Nuremberg, in which Rami Malek stars as American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley.

10 Best Rachel Brosnahan Movies & TV Shows, Ranked
Image
Witty and always prepared with a quip, Rachel Brosnahan has played a number of fierce, unconventional women over the course of her career. The Wisconsin-born actor made her film debut with the 2009 horror film "The Unborn," and since then, she's been a frequent face both in film and on television. Until recently, she's been best known for her Emmy-winning turn as Midge Maisel on "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," but to boil her down to just that is to ignore all of the great roles she'd had leading up to the Amazon Prime Video show that made her a star.

And of course, that doesn't include her recent foray into the world of superheroes in "Superman," where she played the indomitable Lois Lane to David Corenswet's Clark Kent. Rachel Brosnahan is a multi-faceted performer who's equally adept with comedy and drama (she's even starred in a few plays on Broadway...

‘Weapons’ Loads $25M Second Weekend, ‘Nobody 2’ Stuck At $9M+ Opening – Sunday Am Box Office Update
Image
Sunday Am Writethru: After Saturday post… Summer is heading into its August sleep with the overall weekend for all titles falling under $100M for the second time this season with an estimated $93M per ComScore. The last time this happened was during the second weekend of summer, May 9-11, when all movies grossed just over $84M per Box Office Mojo. While summer at $3.4 billion remains ahead of last year’s heat wave by +2%, as we mentioned last weekend, we’re unlikely to hit $4 billion (that last time we did that was pre-Covid).

As we said earlier this week, thank God Warner Bros moved Weapons into the late summer, or else we wouldn’t be feeling a pulse. The Zach Cregger pic’s hold for weekend 2 stands at -43% for a second frame of $25M after a $7.4M Friday and Saturday of $9.6M, +29%.

While Weapons isn’t having the dips of...

One of the best-loved rom-coms of the noughties, not only will Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) be back, but the famously sequel-averse Meryl Streep will be returning to the role of Miranda Priestly, the biting, once-editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. With excitement for the sequel simmering, fans are looking back to some of Streep's other work to prepare for the reprisal of Miranda.

Alongside The Devil Wears Prada, Streep's 2009 rom-com It's Complicated is also currently on Hulu's streaming charts as the eleventh-most-watched movie on the platform as of August 12, 2025. Written and directed by genre veteran Nancy Meyers, Streep stars in the movie and has a complicated love triangle with the duo of Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, with the latter one of Streep's co-stars in the hugely popular Only Murders in the Building.

Image
Denzel Washington has officially begun the press tour for his next movie, Highest 2 Lowest, but before the Spike Lee collaboration releases, one of his more recent films has returned to streaming charts only a few years later. Washington stars alongside Rami Malek (The Amateur) and Jared Leto (Morbius) in The Little Things, the 2021 psychological thriller following a sheriff and a sergeant who search for a brutal serial killer who’s terrorizing L.A. The Little Things is streaming on Prime Video globally, where it’s one of the most popular movies in several countries, including Belgium and Poland. The film earned a “Rotten” 44% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a 67% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter, but it only narrowly earned back its $30 million budget at the box office by grossing $30 million.

The Little Things is, unfortunately, not streaming anywhere in the United States, but the film is available to rent or purchase on Prime Video.

Image
Russell Crowe will always be known for his Oscar-winning performance in Gladiator, but seven years before he suited up as Maximus, Crowe starred in a long-forgotten drama that’s finally returned to streaming over 30 years later. Crowe stars alongside Caroline Goodall (Schindler’s List) in The Silver Brumby, the 1993 drama following a mother who tells her daughter a story about the prince of the Brumbies, the feral horses of Australia. Meanwhile, one man makes it his mission to capture the horse and tame it. 32 years after its initial release,The Silver Brumby has returned to Prime Video and is now streaming on the platform. The film doesn’t have a critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, but it does register an 84% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. It also did not report any box office earnings.

The 15 Most Overrated Oscar-Winning Movies Of All Time
Image
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has done lots of good for the movie industry, as both a business and an art form. Most notably, since the first ceremony in 1929, they annually honor a crop of the year's best films with the Academy Awards, colloquially known as the Oscars. These awards are often wonderful barometers of cinematic quality, drawing audiences toward films they might've otherwise never seen. But sometimes -- or, depending on your point of view, quite often -- the Academy gets it wrong. They ignore what's obviously the superior film of the year in favor of something milquetoast, suspect, or otherwise overrated.

Some of these notable films, whose wins almost immediately received cultural asterisks, include "Green Book," "Crash," and "Driving Miss Daisy." But others still need a touch of critical drubbing, and today is the day to humble these disproportionately honored flicks. With all this in mind,...

Rami Malek's 'The Amateur' Has Found Streaming Redemption in the U.S.
Image
Topping the current box office rankings in the U.S. is the McU's latest outing, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, led by Pedro Pascal. The movie joins a host of other big hits, such as the Gareth Edwards-helmed Jurassic World Rebirth, James Gunn's Superman, and more, as the summer of 2025 finally turns in a selection of likely financial success stories. However, the year began with several struggling theatrical entries, with one such example based on a popular novel of the same name by Robert Littell.

Starring Oscar-winner Rami Malek, The Amateurdebuted back in April and, despite a fair reception from both critics and audiences, couldn't replicate this positive feeling in theatrical ticket sales. However, on the small screen, The Amateur has found its success, with the title officially the most-streamed movie on Hulu in the U.S., as of August 3, 2025. The film tops the charts, but what else...

Ryan Reynold's Underrated Rom-Com 'The Proposal' Is a Streaming Hit in the U.S.
Image
Before he was purchasing a Welsh football club and taking them up the leagues or starring as everyone's favorite fourth wall-breaking superhero in the Deadpool trilogy, Ryan Reynolds was known mainly for his work in the rom-com genre. From 2005's Just Friends to 2008's Definitely, Maybe, Reynolds has proven himself to be a strong male lead, offering a great blend of comic timing and steamy chemistry.

The best of these noughties rom-coms from Reynolds came at the end of the decade with The Proposal, a brilliant enemies-to-lovers tale featuring Reynolds and Oscar winner Sandra Bullock. Now, 16 years on, The Proposal is still finding success, officially becoming one of the ten most-streamed movies on Hulu in the U.S., as of August 3, 2025. The film joins an impressive selection of movies topping Hulu's charts at the time of writing, including Jason Statham's Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, the timeless The Devil Wears Prada,...

Robert Downey's Jr.s' 'Dolittle' Was His Biggest Box Office Bomb, Now It's a Sleeper Hit on Streaming
Image
If you think about it, Robert Downey Jr.'s decision to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe makes all the sense in the world. He won an Oscar for his performance in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, but the film's box office success can be attributed to several factors. Downey's non-Marvel films in the last couple of decades have been largely hit-or-miss. The two movies that worked beyond a doubt — Sherlock Holmes and its sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows — didn't result in a third installment. The Judge and The Soloist underperformed, while Due Date was only a moderate hit. Downey's biggest flop, however, was the would-be franchise-starter Dolittle. The movie is now witnessing a resurgence on Netflix, where it debuted a few days ago.

According to FlixPatrol, Dolittle has accumulated a total of over 1,200 points so far this year on Netflix, and more on HBO Max. It was the...

Robert Downey Jr.’s First Non-mcu Movie After Avengers: Endgame Storms the Streaming Charts
Image
Robert Downey Jr.’s first non-mcu movie after Avengers: Endgame stumbled right out of the gate when it released in 2020, but it only took 5 years for the tables to turn on Dolittle as it now storms the Netflix global streaming charts (FlixPatrol).

The fantasy adventure film has all the looks and feels of a Disney movie, along with a who’s who cast of Hollywood veterans that could make one’s head swoon. But in contrast to what a big-budget, commercial, and family-friendly film like Dolittle can achieve, the film failed both critically as well as at the box office.

As Downey’s first non-mcu movie after Avengers: Endgame, it is slightly disconcerting to see Dolittle rank 4th on Netflix’s Top 10 Movies, as of August 6, 2025.

Dolittle Trending! Robert Downey Jr. & Tom Holland’s Forgotten Film ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Netflix is giving Dolittle a second life as the 2020 film, starring Robert Downey Jr. and featuring Tom Holland’s voice, has suddenly climbed into Netflix’s Top 10 list across more than 45 countries, per Flixpatrol. Initially, it did not land well when it first came out, but streaming audiences seem more open to it now.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Didn’t Save Dolittle in Theaters

The story is based on Hugh Lofting’s The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle. Downey plays a reclusive doctor who talks to animals and sails off to save the Queen. Holland voices Jip the dog, one of many animals in the film. The voice cast is stacked, including Emma Thompson, Rami Malek, John Cena, and Selena Gomez, among others. The live-action side includes Antonio Banderas, Jim Broadbent, Michael Sheen, and more.

Even with all that talent,...

Double Emmy Nominee Julianne Nicholson Reveals If She’d Return To ‘Hacks’ And What’s Next For Sinatra In ‘Paradise’ Season 2
Image
If it was already abundantly clear that Julianne Nicholson has extraordinary range — see Mare of Easttown, I, Tonya, The Good Wife, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and Dream Scenario for reference — then her double Emmy nomination provides a perfect reflection of that range. In Hulu series Paradise, she’s nominated for her role of Sinatra, a political villain almost single-handedly responsible for the hoodwinking of thousands of people held captive in an end-of-the-world underground dome. It’s intense stuff, with Sinatra’s backstory including a tragic loss, and her present state teetering on the edge of fanaticism. Then, in absolute contrast, is her role in HBO Max hit series Hacks as a TikTok superstar with a substance abuse problem and the moniker Dance Mom. Here, Nicholson talks about the two vastly differing worlds of Paradise and Hacks, her new U.K.

Mr. Robot Fans Need To Watch Rami Malek's Sleek Action Thriller On Hulu
Image
Sam Esmail's "Mr. Robot" had its finger on the pulse throughout most of its four-season run. This Rami Malek-led hacker drama can be difficult to categorize, as it hyperfixates on and oscillates between disparate themes while constantly reinventing its identity. It is a deeply personal story that is also painfully universal, as "Mr. Robot" ultimately centers on the human urge to connect with another, filtered through the disorienting perspective of superhacker Elliot Anderson (Malek). As the seasons progress, the cryptic nature of the show gradually starts to unravel, framed through Esmail's striking visual style and a consistent anti-capitalist philosophy. Much of the bittersweet pathos in the series stems from Malek's incredible performance, synced and contrasted against an equally brilliant Christian Slater, whose titular character haunts the narrative even when he's absent.

James Hawes' latest action thriller, "The Amateur," might be a far cry from Esmail's critically acclaimed series,...
