Has a black belt in Kung Fu.

Winner of Theatre Award UK for Best Performance in a Musical, for "Matilda", 2011.

Nominated for Best Actor in a Musical at the 2008 Olivier Awards for his performance in Parade at the Donmar Warehouse, London.

Attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Graduated in 2003 with Ben Whishaw, Edmund Kingsley and Kate Miles.

Obtained a BA (Hons) English degree from the University of Sussex (2000). While there he appeared in student productions of "Murder In The Cathedral" (Archbishop), "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" (Valmont), "Cyrano De Bergerac" (Ragueneau), and "The Duchess of Malfi" (Ferdinand).

The key to acting is just don't fuck it up. People want to believe in you unless they're arseholes. There are some people who come in primed with schadenfreude and just want you to fail. But most audiences are there to engage in an act of imagination.

Maybe Coalition (2015) is as close to being a political journalist as I could get. I've got journalism in the blood.

[For Coalition (2015)] I spent the month as a smoker, although I am not, because Clegg is and you can hear it in his voice. It's... sexy!

In all these parts, I get to reach quite far from my central self. They're all in corners of my unconscious, my subconscious, the envelope of my experiences and my sense of self. I get to explore what the world feels like in all these different ways because, in all of these characters, there's some part of me in there.
