Zee5 has dropped its first Malayalam in-house production, Kammattam, with an ambitious, true-story based plot dealing with homicides, financial fraud, and what is supposed to be a high-stakes investigation. With Sudev Nair playing the lead, Anthonio George, a police officer investigating the murder of local plantation owner Samuel Ooman, the show begins with the promise of a high-thrill Indian cop-thriller but somehow fizzles out by the end. The plot feels stretched out with way too few character arcs, zero to minimal subplots, and utterly predictable turns. While the series underdelivers, this article aims to recap what happens and take a fair shot at what could have happened better here.
