He was pictured on the cover of the 1982 Warren Zevon album, "The Envoy", along with Ted Shackelford, with whom he co-starred on the show, Knots Landing (1979). Zevon was the boyfriend of Kim Lankford, who co-starred on "Knots Landing", with Houghton and Shackelford. However, Zevon and Lankford never married.

Son of Buck Houghton (producer of Além da Imaginação (1959), etc).

Children: son Daniel Danny Houghton, born in 1987, and daughter Alisa Houghton, born in 1990.

Brother of Mona Houghton.
