- Became a Jehovah's Witness in 1954, and later worked in the organization's main office in Brooklyn.
- Holden had a stage mother who started her daughter's performing, dancing and singing when Holden was just three years old. She and her mother moved to Hollywood after her parents' divorce. She attended Hollywood High School and then went to UCLA for two years.
- Starred in a 1954 stage production of "The Seven Year Itch" at the Pasadena Playhouse in the Marilyn Monroe role.

- I feel sorry for young actors today. Where do they learn everything? Where are they allowed to take ballet and horseback-riding, and do live shows and USO tours? JH - reflecting on her training at Universal
