UFC’s $7.7 Billion Deal With Paramount Is Horrible for Its Fighters: Ex-ufc Heavyweight Explains Why
Image
Things are changing for UFC as it signs a deal worth $7.7 billion with Paramount for exclusive U.S. broadcast rights for a total of seven years. Former professional mixed martial artist and UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub recently discussed this deal in his podcast and explained why it could be a bad idea, especially since he believes the massive payout might not translate into a better payout for the fighters, nor would it do anything for their career growth.

Right off the bat, Schaub was displeased with the $7.7 billion broadcast deal and the pay-per-view model coming to an end in 2026. According to him, the pay-per-view allowed UFC to build stars in order to bring in money. However, now with that model out the window, the UFC won’t need to do any of that.

He added,

They got rid of that model ’cause they’re done building stars. Those days are done.

It’s been well known that Saudi Arabia has been pushing for a WrestleMania for years now, and history shows that they are willing to pay a giant fee to get it. This could also turn into a ‘Super WrestleMania’ situation, akin to the Greatest Royal Rumble, by having two WrestleManias in 2027 instead of one.

The report further emphasized another key event from the possible PPV, where the country is pushing Dwayne Johnson to headline the show. The idea of The Showcase of the Immortals being held twice a...

And since he missed out on this recognition, he is one of the few WWE longtimers to not have a Grand Slam in his career. After winning his record 17th Championship title at WrestleMania 41 this year, Cena would love to add a Grand Slam title to the mix as well.

In WWE, the Grand Slam Championship is an honor bestowed upon wrestlers who have won at least four certain titles in their career. Interestingly, a wrestler must have achieved the Triple Crown Championship by winning three titles to achieve the Grand Slam with the fourth one. However, only winning the WWE Championship would earn you the Triple Crown title.

So, what does he need to become a Grand Slam Champion? According to the modern rules, a WWE wrestler should have held the following titles to...

20 Unforgettable Moments That Changed WrestleMania Forever
Image
WrestleMania isn’t called the ‘Grandest Stage of ’Em All’ for nothing. Call it the Super Bowl, season finale, and a rock concert of pro wrestling all into one. Since that night at Madison Square Garden back in 1985, WrestleMania has been where stars are made, legends take their final bow, and fans witness moments that stay with us.

Ask any wrestling fan, and they’ll tell you, there’s something inherently different about a Mania night. Or two. In 2020, amidst the Covid pandemic, WWE decided to split WrestleMania into two nights. This change brought up another question. What if it had always been two nights? How would the stories change? Who would be where? That is, however, a conversation for another time.

While WrestleMania 41 was not the spiciest of manias we’ve come to see, Cody Rhodes held his ground against John Cena, Stone Cold Steve Austin popped the crowd with a surprise return,...

“People weren’t ready for it”: Why Stone Cold Refused to Give Advice to John Cena After His Heel Turn in WWE
Image
John Cena’s heel turn shocked wrestling fans everywhere. Cena, who was the ultimate good guy of the company, sold his soul to the Rock and attacked WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. The turn was so shocking that even the most cynical fan was surprised. It was even more surprising that the turn came when he was going through his final run as a wrestler.

Cena’s heel turn was as shocking as Stone Cold’s at WrestleMania X-7. Both are very similar: they both joined hands with the ‘boss’ and attacked the ‘people’s champion’. That’s why, when Stone Cold was asked about Cena’s heel turn recently, he said that there is no advice he can give.

Every WWE United States Champion in the Last 15 Years, Ranked

Since 1975, the United States Championship maintained its presence under Jim Crockett Promotions before WWE formed. WWE obtained the US championship through the acquisition of WCW during its 2001 buyout, unlike most championships in WWE today.

WWE reactivated the US Championship in 2003 after a short unification period with the Intercontinental Championship, which made it a constant mid-card title throughout. The company has used the title across its history to develop wrestlers who would go on to become future champions. The United States Championship history grew stronger with names like Eddie Guerrero, Ric Flair, and Booker T.

The documentary will also feature never-before-seen footage from the WWE archives and brand-new interviews with legends of the squared circle, and will allow audiences to pull the curtain back on one of the most unforgettable and bizarre events in WrestleMania history. While WrestleMania has always been an event of pomp and circumstance, this one — set against the glitzy chaos of Las Vegas in 1993 — took the biscuit when it came to over-the-top displays.

The documentary charts the making of WWE’s ninth annual showcase — a Roman-themed outdoor extravaganza at Caesars Palace that would help shape the future of the brand, including all the misfires, the disasters, and the elephants — yes, elephants.

John Cena, one of the longest-reigning and highest-decorated superstars in the history of WWE, is known for his phenomenal work ethic as well as for the huge impact he left, both in the ring and on the business. Journey Into the Underground Punk Scene of 1990s Cuba With New 'Los Frikis' Posters From Mutant [Exclusive]
Image
Los Frikis, a new drama about a band of punk-rock outcasts in 1990s Cuba, will be available to rent or buy digitally this week. To commemorate the punk-rock spirit of the film, design house Mutant has produced four new exclusive posters for the film. Collider has an exclusive first look at the posters, which were designed by artist Boneface. Mutant and Boneface collaborated with the Los Frikis filmmakers to capture the film's anarchic ethos.

The poster features a lone rider in punk rock garb atop a horse that's up to its torso in water; both are surrounded by fluttering butterflies. There are four uniquely eye-popping color variants of the poster, each patterned after an iconic punk album cover: the US and UK releases of The Sex Pistols' Never Mind the Bollocks, The Misfits' Walk Among Us, and The Ramones' Rocket to Russia. Montreal Screwjob Again? John Cena Can be the WWE Champion Without Really Beating Cody Rhodes Because of the Rock

The world of pro wrestling has always been a massive entertainer for fans, and one of the primary reasons for this is its storytelling. Talking about those mercurial twists and turns, where the lines between reality and reels are blurred, Montreal Screwjob will always remain a shining chapter. The betrayal of Bret Hart by Vince McMahon led to countless repercussions, one of which was definitely the birth of the Attitude Era.

'Mr. McMahon' probes the murky depths of a wrestling tycoon
Image
There’s a recurring caution that runs throughout the NetFlix limited series, Mr. McMahon. Director Chris Smith does not belabor the point, but he makes sure viewers are reminded every once in a while that almost all of what we know about the life and career of wrestling mogul Vince McMahon has been carefully curated by McMahon himself.

Consequently, even in a supposed honest examination of the man who more or less invented the concept of “sports entertainment” for the 21st century, it would be wise to question everything.

Fortunately, Chris Smith is up to the task of teasing out various strata of truth. His breakthrough documentary, American Movie (1999), remains among the greatest and most revelatory movies of the 1990s. Smith has gone on to examine the nature of fact and fiction in other projects such as Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond (2017) and Tiger King (2020). The blurring of the...
