5 Most Underrated WWE Divas, Ranked
Image
The WWE women’s division has undergone a remarkable transformation, completely redefining how female wrestlers are perceived within the company and the broader wrestling world. Not too long ago, women in wrestling were often portrayed through sensational storylines and overly s*xualized characters, overshadowing their athletic abilities.

However, in the modern era, WWE has successfully reshaped this image, showcasing a roster of powerful, skilled, and intense in-ring performers. These trailblazing athletes have earned the respect of fans worldwide and carved out a meaningful, lasting place in the heart of the wrestling community.

Did Trish Stratus Really Date The Rock? The Most Fiery Affair Rumor, Explained
Image
The Rock (aka Dwayne Johnson) was everywhere. In 2001, he was already a wrestling superstar and was also on the verge of being a fixture in Hollywood. He was the mainstream superstar WWE was looking for (since Hulk Hogan left the company). Meanwhile, Trish Stratus, who debuted in 2000, became very popular at the same time. It didn’t hurt that she became popular with the predominantly male audience of the WWE.

So, when these two were locked in a mini-storyline with the power-hungry Vince McMahon, people started to notice their on-screen chemistry. They had a segment where both of these stars kissed each other, and fans began to ask questions about what was happening backstage.

Bob Holly and Ivory thought that The Rock and Trish Stratus had an affair

According to Bob Holly (fka Hardcore Holly), there was a relationship. In his autobiography titled ‘The Hardcore Truth: The Bob Holly Story...

What Trish Stratus Really Felt About Vince McMahon Asking Her to Strip and ‘Bark Like a Dog’ Before WrestleMania?
Image
Trish Stratus is considered a trailblazer in American women’s wrestling. She and Lita created an era where women were treated somewhat seriously. The women’s championship started gaining prestige, and matches became longer and better. Trish became better as time went on. Her matches against the likes of Molly Holly, Lita, Victoria, etc are classics and are inspirations to those wrestlers who ushered in the Women’s Revolution in 2015-16. But, Stratus too had to go through the mud to prove herself.

She started as a valet in WWE but eventually got involved with Vince McMahon. Eventually, she got humiliated by McMahon because that’s how his character was at that time.

Trish Stratus defended the “barking” segment in the Mr.McMahon documentary

How did he humiliate her? He first demanded that she get on her hands and knees and bark like a dog,...

10 Simple Ways To Fix The Divas Division
WWE.com

To say that the WWE Divas division hasn’t always been successful is an understatement. Despite once having a glowing roster of female wrestlers such as Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Chyna and Lita, the company has often treated the Diva division as an after-thought and encouraged a culture where their matches are referred to by many fans as bathroom breaks.

This all looked set to change with the arrival of three of the Nxt Four Horsewoman: Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch. The eagerly awaited debut of the Nature Girl, the Boss and the Lasskicker was met with overwhelming support and ‘This Is Awesome’ chants from the crowd. Pretty much straight away WWE slapped the hashtag #DivasRevolution on the so-called movement and the rest is history.

But has the revolution really fixed the Divas division? Despite all this happening, the fans have criticized the booking, with particularly ire...

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Molly Holly
WWE.com

Molly Holly was one of the most influential women to ever wrestle in WWE. Shrugging off the long-kept stereotype that female performers were only truly useful in scantily-clad outfits or as managers to their male counterparts and turning the women’s division into a vibrant, electric battleground, Molly was a well trained competitor with technical nous far outweighing her often more popular opponents.

Whether playing the sweet, innocent babyface or the aggressive, spiteful heel, Molly went about her job like a true pro and, despite winning two Women’s titles during her time with the company, most never saw her as equal to Trish Status and Lita (both of whom have been inducted into the Hall of Fame).

During a time when it was all about bloodshed and risqué storytelling, Molly Holly’s character was the light in the darkness. While Stone Cold Steve Austin was offering up beer baths and middle fingers,...

10 Baddest Women In WWE History
WWE

“Rowdy” Ronda Rousey was again the talk of the sports world on February 28 when the Ufc Women’s Bantamweight champion successfully defended her championship against Cat Zingano in a historic 14 seconds. Her submission victory, using her vaunted arm bar, not only established her as the most dominant female to ever compete in mixed martial arts, it also staked her claim to the title of baddest athlete in the world, regardless of gender.

At a time when World Wrestling Entertainment is under intense scrutiny by fans and critics for the treatment of its Divas, the attention paid to Rousey, Zingano, former boxer-turned-fighter Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington highlights just how behind the times Vince McMahon and company are in regard to realizing the potential of female athletes.

But that was not always the case.

There was a time when women’s wrestling was respected, when Trish Stratus and Lita headlined the Divas division,...

Molly Glynn, an actress best known for appearing in Chicago Fire, died on Friday in a freak accident while biking with her husband.

Molly Glynn Dies

Glynn died when storm winds caused a tree to uproot and fall on her during a bike ride with her husband Joe Foust. Following the incident, Foust called 911. Despite the doctor’s efforts, Glynn did not survive the trauma.

Foust was chronicling the devastating chain of events on Facebook. “Friends, this is the darkest day of my life,” he wrote Friday. 10 Stiffest Wrestling Clotheslines Ever
wwe.com

In the wake of the theatrics of pro-wrestling; the People’s Elbows, Knuckle Shuffles, Hulking Up and Leg Drops, it’s a good thing the industry has always had the hard-hitting, smash-mouth balance in place to add some credibility to the cartoonist nature of some of the wrestling repertoire. Super-kicks, spears, punt kicks, knee smashes and, perhaps the oldest and stiffest of the lot, the clothesline and its brother in arm, the Lariat. For the record, the difference between a clothesline and a Lariat is in the positioning of the arm. A clothesline keeps the arm extended out towards the attackers side, where as the Lariat utilises the movement of the arm as an attacking weapon, often off of the ropes.

Whilst no more than a regular move for most, some wrestlers have made the clothesline (and Lariat) their own over the years. This list looks at 5 of...

10 Devastating Injuries Suffered By WWE Divas
wwe.com

World Wrestling Entertainment applied the tagline “Sexy, Smart and Powerful” to its Divas years ago and, for the most part, that has most certainly been the case. The women of WWE have proven to be able to mix it up between the ropes while entertaining audiences away from the squared circle. The company’s Total Divas reality show, airing on both E! and the WWE Network, is entering its third season and has been a big hit for all involved. While the show has done an excellent job of giving fans some insight into the dramatic lives of some of their favorite female performers, it has also given them an indication of just how tough and physically grueling the wrestling business can be. Both Nikki Bella and Naomi have had major injuries documented on the show and have fought back from them to continue their in-ring careers.

Those...

11 Greatest WWE Diva Catfights
WWE.com

The women of World Wrestling Entertainment have been known to carry their weight (and the weight of their opponents) in the ring since the day that “The Fabulous” Moolah sold all rights for her Women’s Championship to Vince McMahon. Since that day, we have seen the Divas perform dazzling acts of athleticism that include Top-Rope Frankensteiners and Diving Moonsaults and have watched as they displayed their technical prowess in the ring, sometimes rivaling (if not overshadowing) their male counterparts.

However, there is one style of fighting that the Divas always do better than the Superstars, no matter if they are talented ring tacticians like Molly Holly or green-as-fertilizer like Eva Marie. That style of fighting is known simply as “catfighting.”

While Superstars are generally limited to punches and kicks when partaking in fisitcuffs, and generally avoid dirty tactics such as scratching or hair-pulling, the Divas have been...

10 Most Heated WWE Diva Rivalries
WWE.com

This past Sunday night at Extreme Rules, newcomer Paige defended her Divas Championship against Tamina. The match was a hard-fought one that told a story and showcased the former Nxt standouts abilities before pay-per-view and WWE Network audiences. As good as the match may have been, however, the fans failed to react to it and the overall enjoyment of bout suffered as a result.

It is not the fault of the women involved. They did an admirable job of delivering a very good match regardless of the lack of response from the fans inside the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. In this case, fault lies with the WWE creative team, which did a terrible job of building on the hype and excitement surrounding Paige’s debut and title win.

Rather than playing up the AntiDiva character Paige perfected during her days in Florida Championship Wrestling and Nxt,...

WWE Wrestler Death Rates Investigated
WWE.com

A lot of people have been talking about Benjamin Morris’ 538 piece, “Are Pro Wrestlers Dying at an Unusual Rate?”

Like Morris, I am neither an actuarial scientist nor a demographer. So, our interpretations of the data should be taken with a grain of salt. My results were somewhat different from Morris’ due to a difference data set and changes in how we calculated actuarial predictions.

Differences in methodology from Morris

I also used Social Security Actuarial Life Tables, but my “expected mortality rates” for the age groups were not the same as Morris’. For each wrestler, I calculated what their age would have been as of today. Then, based on gender, I looked up the number of lives (out of 100,000) that were expected to still be alive and converted that to a percentage. His analysis looked at wrestlers who were on 20+ WWF PPVs through 2002. I went with a...

WWE: 10 Sexiest Diva Moments In WrestleMania History
WWE.com

Over the last two decades, the WWE Divas have made up one of the finest collections of attractive, athletic, and down-right sexy women in the history of sports, entertainment, and sports entertainment. From Sunny to Sable to Trish and Lita- and even including some of the earlier ladies like Velvet McEntyre and Sensational Sherri- these Divas have looked good while competing with their counterparts to create their own “WrestleMania Moments.” And from Cyndi Lauper accompanying Wendy Richter to ringside at WrestleMania I; to Miss Elizabeth emotionally reuniting with The Macho Man at WrestleMania 7; to Victoria shaving Molly Holly’s head bald at WrestleMania 20; the Divas have had some truly legendary WrestleMania Moments.

This list is not about those moments.

This list is about the other ‘assets’ the Divas bring to the show of shows. This list is about those titillating outfits, those fantastic figures, and- in some cases-...

WWE: 6 Reasons Why Lita Deserves Hall Of Fame Induction
On Monday, February 10th, World Wrestling Entertainment announced the third inductee into the 2014 Hall of Fame Class. To the delight of the WWE Universe and women’s wrestling enthusiasts everywhere, it was revealed that Amy Dumas (aka Lita) would be taking her rightful place in the Hall of Fame alongside other legendary performers The Ultimate Warrior and Jake “the Snake” Roberts.

Unfortunately, there have been detractors in regards to Lita’s career, even post-retirement. Some feel she was overrated and not nearly as fine-tuned in the ring compared to the likes of Molly Holly or Victoria.

Then there are people who feel it is too early for her to be inducted and that other Divas (such as Miss Elizabeth, Luna Vachon, Sable, and Chyna) deserve induction first. While I don’t disagree with this opinion, WWE has opted not to induct those ladies yet. It still doesn’t change the...

5 Essential Wrestling Movies Every Fan Should See
Containing elements of athletic competition, show business and performance magic, professional wrestling is a secretive world of handshakes, industry-jargon and solid, unflinching dedication to a craft that thrills the dedicated fan as much as it bewilders the casual onlooker.

It isn’t a straight fight; that much ought to be obvious to anyone who’s ever been in an actual fight, but then again, it certainly isn’t the phoney baloney silliness that many people deride it as either. Pro wrestling is as hard (or harder) than any other sport on this Earth. It has no off-season and wrestlers routinely work while struggling with injuries that would send a bus driver or office worker into early retirement (no, I’m not exaggerating).

Because this insular world of performance art was so secretive for so many years (some would-be wrestlers even had their eyes gouged out by overzealous pros looking to...
