The Summer of Superman is a brilliant marketing move by DC Comics. Not only does it help remind people of James Gunn's Superman movie, which premieres on July 11, 2025, but it’s also a way to celebrate the Man of Steel’s holiday of April 18; the day he first debuted.

The “Summer of Superman” was announced with various comic books including stories in the normal continuity and stories involving Supes, special issues, and variants galore. There’s even a comic for younger kids called Superman’s Good Guy Gang. But wait, there's more: DC Comics has announced that Kal-El’s super cousin Supergirl is getting a solo title written and illustrated by the amazing Sophie Campbell (Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Jem and the Holograms).

Sophie Campbell is a fan of Supergirl (whose real name is Kara Zor-El), which makes this a great decision for DC Comics’ All In initiative.

Many Westerns were based on real-life figures; Certain historical figures were explored in several Westerns. Some names aren't particularly associated with the genre but were also tackled in Westerns.

The Western genre is a staple of American fiction, with countless films and television series made in the immensely popular style, many of which tackle real-life figures. While some names instantly spring to mind when considering the best Westerns ever made John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and Steve McQueen the 20th century saw so many productions that a number have now mostly been forgotten.

Oni Press is releasing a new double-length horror series called Toxic Summer, blending elements of Riverdale and The Creature from the Black Lagoon. The series is created by Derek Charm, known for his work on Jughead and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. It will feature double-sized issues with covers by various artists. The story follows two best friends whose dream summer turns into a nightmare after a toxic spill brings subhuman monsters to their beach town, promising plenty of horror and suspense.

Screen Rant is excited to exclusively announce Toxic Summer, a monstrous beach party coming soon from Oni Press. Oni has also provided a look at the first issue's covers, featuring work from an Eisner Award-winning cartoonist. This double-page horror fest blends Riverdale with The Creature from the Black Lagoon in the best way.
