- When the David Letterman show was on NBC the gag writers thought it would amusing to revoice an entire previously aired hour and broadcast it with no explanation. Peter Fernandez dubbed David Letterman's voice.

- He is survived by his wife, Noel Smith Fernandez of Pomona, New York; his sister Jacqueline Fernandez Hayes, brother Edward Fernandez; two children from his first marriage to Marion Russell which ended in divorce; Peter Fernandez Jr. and April Fernandez; and a stepdaughter, Elisabeth McAlister; and nine grandchildren.
