He appeared in four Best Picture Academy Award winners, the last three of which were in consecutive years: Grande Hotel (1932), Como Era Verde o Meu Vale (1941), Rosa de Esperança (1942) and Casablanca (1942). The only other actor to appear in three consecutive Best Picture winners is Harry Davenport, who appeared in A Vida de Emile Zola (1937), Do Mundo Nada se Leva (1938) and ...E o Vento Levou (1939). Herbert Evans also appears in four other Best Picture nominees: O Expresso de Shanghai (1932), Nasce uma Estrela (1937), As Aventuras de Robin Hood (1938) and Correspondente Estrangeiro (1940).
