Jaws hit theaters in 1975 and reshaped Hollywood forever, but behind that milestone stood a young director who had taken a very different path from many of his peers. While the New Hollywood wave of the 1970s soaked itself in wild nights, cocaine, and open bars, Steven Spielberg stayed away from all of it. He was built differently and never followed the crowd, even when it was the most popular one in town.
Steven Spielberg Focused On Filmmaking From A Young Age
Hollywood back then was overflowing with ambition and addiction, and almost everyone was a part of it. From directors to actors to producers, all of them worked hard but partied harder. Although there’s no denying that many thrived in that environment (like Al Pacino) and were able to create some of the most iconic films in Hollywood history, their hangovers also clung to them equally,...

There are fewer iconic 80s movies than Jim Henson's Labyrinth, with its magical combination of puppets, music and David Bowie, and as fans celebrated the 35th anniversary of the movie's release, Brian Jay Jones joined the celebrations by recounting a little story about the casting of Bowie as the unforgettable Goblin King in Henson's world of magic and mayhem. With a new movie currently in pre-production after numerous years of rumors and possible sequels, it seems like the perfect time to celebrate what a great film the original was.
Brian Jay Jones posted his celebration of the movie's US release on his Twitter account, saying "Happy Birthday to Jim Henson's Labyrinth, released in U.S. theaters on this date in 1986. So many great stories I could tell about the development and filming, but let's just do a quick one about casting its charismatic goblin king. Need I say it? Walk with me.

MGM Home Entertainment gave Fango the first look at cover art and details for its DVD release of the psychochiller Hit And Run. The disc arrives January 13, distributed via Fox Home Video.
Directed by Enda McCallion, the movie (previously titled Bumper) stars Laura (Amusement) Breckenridge as a college student who leaves a spring break party drunk and winds up running a man down with her car. Burying what she believes is her dead victim, she soon learns that her victim wasn’t quite expired, and has unearthed himself to seek violent revenge. Diane Doniol-Valcroze and Arthur Flam, who co-wrote the similarly car-centric Penny Dreadful, scripted Hit And Run, and the cast also includes Kevin (The Last Winter) Corrigan and Christopher (Return To Sleepaway Camp) Shand. MGM’s disc will present the film in widescreen with no announced special features, and retails for $26.98.
