His best known film abroad was the political thriller Confissões de um Comissário de Polícia (1971), starring Franco Nero. This was one of the first films to openly look at the all-pervading influence of the Mafia, based on actual events in Palermo in 1969.

The May 6, 1970, issue of Variety, in the Italian Films Shooting column, lists the movie Violence presently filming in Morocco, director Damiano Damiani, actors Susan Strasberg, Farley Granger, Woody Strode, Adolfo Celi, Terence Hill. Producers Nyima Films and Western Intl. of Los Angeles. Distributor Paris-Etoile. No evidence the film was completed or distributed.

He is an Italian screenwriter, film director, actor and writer.

Studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and began in films as an art director.

Directed seventeen documentaries between 1946 and 1955 and collaborated on ten screenplays in the 1950's.
