Daughter of Ruby Elaine (Seal) and former United States Congressman and Federal Judge Ross Rizley.

In the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s she appeared on many TV westerns, including Gunsmoke (1955), Bonanza (1959), Caravana (1957), Death Valley Days (1952), O Homem de Virgínia (1962), Wanted: Dead or Alive (1958), The Big Valley (1965) and many more. She was at least as well known for her TV western appearances as for horror movies.

Bryar is mostly known for appearing in small roles in a few horror films, such as "Mrs. Spool" in Psicose 2 (1983) and "Arlene's Mother" in I Was a Teenage Frankenstein (1957). In her death scene in the final scenes of Psicose 2 (1983), where her character, "Mrs. Spool", is hit on the head with a shovel, she wore a protective skull cap under her wig to deflect the blow from the rubber shovel.

Mother of Paul Barrere, guitarist and singer with the rock band Little Feat.

She made guest appearances on both Além da Imaginação (1959) and Além da Imaginação (1985).
