Winner of the 2003 Jessie award "Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role" for his work in Fiddler on the Roof at the Vancouver Playhouse

Created the role of mother Edna Turnblad in the original Toronto production of the musical Hairspray. This role was originated in the John Waters film by Devine and on the Broadway stage by Harvey Fierstein. Jay's performance was scene stealing to say the least paying homage to both Fierstein and Divine and adding his own flair at the same time.
