- She met Adolf Hitler in 1929 while working as a lab technician at his photographer Heinrich Hoffmann's shop.
- Sister of Ilse Braun and Gretl Braun. Two hours after he ordered Gretl's husband, Hermann Fegelein, shot over Eva's objections, Hitler married Eva. They committed suicide less than 40 hours later. Gretl gave birth to her and Fegelein's daughter, whom she named Eva, on May 5, 1945. Eva committed suicide on April 25, 1971 after her boyfriend was killed in an auto accident.
- She and Adolf Hitler rarely appeared in public together and few Germans knew of her existence. Even his closest associates were not certain of the exact nature of their relationship. She was indifferent to politics, keeping her distance from Hitler's intimates. When important political guests came to visit, she was banished to her room. She spent most of her time exercising, reading novelettes, watching romantic films and concerning herself with her appearance.
- Loyal to the bitter end, she refused to obey Adolf Hitler's orders to leave the Führerbunker as the Russians closed in on Berlin. The rest of her family survived the war.
- Became Adolf Hitler's mistress after the death of Geli Raubal, despite her father's opposition (a 1944 letter from Hitler to Eva indicates that her parents eventually did accept him and the relationship). In 1935 Hitler bought her a villa and provided her with a Mercedes and a chauffeur. In his first will he bequeath her the equivalent of £600 a year for the rest of her life.
- [(quote from an actually unauthenticated letter) about Adolf Hitler] From our first meeting I swore to follow him anywhere--even unto death. I live only for his love.
- [to a friend while Adolf Hitler was away] The Berghof is my golden cage.
