Get ready to head back to the Persian Gulf War, as one of the most underrated war films of the 21st century has found a new streaming home: Universal Pictures' Jarhead, the 2005 film starring Jake Gyllenhaalthat chronicled the life of an unwitting Marine Corps recruit, begins streaming on Paramount+ today. The title character, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, is a teen struggling with schizophrenia in 1988, a time when Reagan's great Conservative revolution was drawing to a close and adults clung to suburban conformity as it crumbled under them. Donnie is obsessed with time-travel and regularly hallucinates a vicious, strange anthropomorphic rabbit monster named Frank (all while attempting to socialize at school and foster a romance with a classmate played by Jena Malone). Patrick Swayze appears as a cheesy self-self guru, Drew Barrymore plays one of Donnie's teachers, and Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Donnie's sister.

By turns psychedelic and weirdly moving (in a Goth sort of way), "Donnie Darko" quickly became a cult hit and rotated directly into the local midnight movie circuit, attracting a wide swath of misfits and night people.

Unsung Hero stars Joel Smallbone aka one-half of Christian pop duo for King & Country as his real-life dad David Smallbone. Joel proves here he can both lead a musical group and a feature film, as does another young performer in Unsung Hero. Australian-American Kirrilee Berger plays young Rebecca Smallbone, who would go on to become Grammy-winning artist Rebecca St. James, and Berger's performance here proves she is effectively following both her passions of acting and singing indeed.

Also along for the ride is Chicago Fire star Daisy Betts, playing the Smallbone family matriarch Helen. CBS has finally made its decision on the future of NCIS: Hawai'i on the network, and it's not good news. The series has been canceled, making it the only one of the three current NCIS shows that was not given a renewal order.

Per TVLine, NCIS: Hawai'i will be ending with its current third season, and were will not be a Season 4. While it's not uncommon for television shows to find new life on streaming, as NBC will be doing with Law & Order: Organized Crime heading to Peacock, there's no indication at this time that NCIS: Hawai'i will move to Paramount+. News of the show getting the boot comes ahead of the Season 3 finale on May 6, which will now likely serve as the series finale. NCIS: Hawai'i getting axed follows the news that NCIS and NCIS: Sydney had both been renewed.

A new NCIS spinoff series is now in development.

Following the previous news of a prequel series getting ordered, it's now been reported by TVLine that a new spinoff series will be made for NCIS. The new show will reunite Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, starring the two as they reunite to reprise their respective roles as Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David. While both have reappeared in NCIS at different points, including a return return from Weatherly, they have not shared the screen together since October 2013. Set for a streaming release on Paramount+, the untitled spinoff is set to start filming in Europe later in 2024.

It had the characters of NCIS mourning the loss of Ducky, and the show gives him a send-off by having the agents picking up one of his final, unfinished cases. The episode also featured a surprise return from Michael Weatherly, who used to star in the series as Tony Dinozzo. Weatherly had not been featured in the show as Dinozzo since his exit in 2016, and after the episode aired, the actor shared his reaction with a post on X.

Exclusive: Burns & Co. Prods. has acquired the exclusive rights to bring James Stewart’s story to the big screen. The theatrical movie, tentatively titled A Truly Wonderful Life, will share Stewart’s inspiring tale of valor, purpose, and faith.

Aaron Burns, who is a director/producer at Burns & Co., and his team have been developing the story with Stewart’s daughter, Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, who is serving as executive producer for the film.
