Cajun fiddler.

Played at the Newport Folk Festival in 1964. He returned to the festival three years later with The Balfa Brothers.

Nominated for Best Ethnic Or Traditional Folk Recording at the 1985 Grammy Awards.

Awarded with an NEA National Heritage Fellowship in 1982.

Hosted a weekly Cajun music show on Eunice, Louisiana radio station KEUN.

Inducted into the Cajun Music Hall of Fame in 1997.
