James Gunn just released a three-minute clip of Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific fighting Lex Luthor’s henchmen in Superman. Being a Gunn production, the fight scene, of course, had a catchy song playing in the background.

For those of you who really liked that song, let me offer a little help. The song’s name is ‘5 Years Time’ and is performed by Noah & The Whale. An upbeat indie track, the song fits perfectly with Edi Gathegi’s fight scene in Superman. The song is one of many in the soundtrack of Superman, and somehow, they fit perfectly with the theme of the movie.

With a huge IP like Superman, I had my doubts about James Gunn about his usage of songs in his movies. However, watching the film was a totally different experience.

Hideo Kojima, the game designer behind Metal Gear and Death Stranding, has weighed in on James Gunn’s Superman, and it’s not what most fans of the movie would expect. He watched the Dcu reboot after returning from his world tour, and as per his post on X (formerly Twitter), Kojima believes that “the movie itself wasn’t punk.”

Superman stars David Corenswet as the titular hero, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. At large, the movie has been praised for its tonal shift from previous iterations of the DC character, but it didn’t sit right with some viewers— Kojima being one of them.

Iggy gave the song his live debut on Saturday (July 26th) at the Project Pabst festival in Portland, Oregon. It closed out a 20-song setlist that also saw the punk legend play solo favorites like “The Passenger” and “Lust for Life,” along with Stooges classics such as “I Wanna Be Your Dog” and “Search and Destroy.”

“Superman is the best friend you could have,” Iggy Pop recently said, responding to the prominent use of “Punkrocker,” his 2006 collaboration with Teddybears, in the final scene of Superman — and he proved he meant it Saturday night by playing the formerly obscure track live for the first time ever.

The song, which has exploded on streaming services and gone viral on TikTok since the movie‘s release, concluded Pop’s performance at Portland, Oregon’s Project Pabst Festival. Pop dedicated the performance to Superman, according to a crowd member who posted video.

Superman is flying high at the domestic box office, where’s it’s up to $235 million after two weekends. Internationally, however, the movie is behind at $171 million, something writer/director James Gunn has chalked up to a combination of factors — including “anti-American sentiment.”

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Gunn pointed to the fact that despite his popularity, Superman still “is not a big known superhero in some places like Batman is.” However, he continued that “it also also affects things that we have a certain amount of anti-American sentiment around the world right now. It isn’t really helping us.”

Comedian Marc Maron recently announced that he will lock the gates for good this fall and wrap up his popular podcast Wtf.

Over the course of the past 16 years, the show has featured a number of memorable, surprisingly candid interviews with legends like Robin Williams, Iggy Pop and Carol Burnett, plus the occasional awkwardly combative chat with controversial comedy stars like Gallagher and Carlos Mencia.

German-Turkish director Fatih Akin, whose “Amrum” debuts Thursday at the Cannes Film Festival, is now working on two new films, a documentary, “Anatolian Dragon,” and a narrative feature, “Ghosts,” which will start shooting this summer, he has confirmed to Variety.

The documentary follows Turkish singer-songwriter Gaye Su Akyol as she works on her latest album in Berlin. Iggy Pop is a fan of her music, Akin said, and, like Pop in the 1970s, has found a creative refuge in the city.

“She had to leave Turkey after she got in trouble about her lyrics in this very misogynist society that the country has become,” Akin explained. “In the last five or six years, almost a quarter-million Turkish people, educated people, have left Turkey — doctors, scientists, you know. Sex Pistols Featuring Frank Carter have announced a Fall 2025 North American tour, marking this incarnation of the legendary punk band’s first-ever stateside shows.

The tour kicks off September 16th at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas, and runs through an October 17th gig at The Pearl in Las Vegas, and will hit such cities as Philadelphia, Toronto, Minneapolis, and Seattle, among others. The band will also play Riot Fest in Chicago and Cbgb Fest in Brooklyn, as well as open for Iggy Pop in Boston.
