He was a guest at the house of Tyrone Power on May 19, 1946 and engaged in an energetic although drunken game of hide and seek. Fellow guests included Primula Niven, wife of actor David Niven. Thinking she was rushing into a dark closet, Prim opened the door to the basement, rushed in and fell down all the stairs, sustaining injuries which would later lead to her death.

His evil laugh as the Joker on Batman (1966) was created by accident. Shortly after being cast, Romero met with producers to discuss his role on the series. While waiting to meet with them, he happened to see conceptual art of the Joker's costuming. Romero felt that the pictures looked absurd and, as a result, spontaneously broke out into a playfully loud and manic laughter. A producer overheard that laughter and responded by informing Romero, "That's it! That's your Joker's laugh!".

He was awarded 2 Stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Motion Pictures at 6615 Hollywood Boulevard; and for Television at 1719 Vine Street in Hollywood, California.

Refused to shave off his trademark mustache when he played the role of the Joker on Batman (1966). Close observation shows the white clown makeup was applied right over his much-loved mustache.

He was the first actor to play the DC Comics character the Joker in a live-action adaptation of the Batman series. At fifty-nine, he is the oldest actor to play The Joker in live-action, and the only non-white actor to play The Joker.

Cesar Romero made a final television appearance, four months before his death, on the Los Angeles cable-access program "Skip E. Lowe Looks at Hollywood".

His maternal grandparents were exiled Cubans Carmen and her invalid husband, Manuel Mantilla. Their daughter, María Mantilla -- Romero's mother -- is generally believed to have been the daughter of Cuban poet and revolutionary hero José Martí, who wrote the verse used in "Guantánamera" ("Yo soy un hombre sincero...").

Television writer Mark Evanier remarked that Romero was usually easily available to cast for television series guest appearances. Apparently, Evanier knew at least one crew member on a television series who prepared roles with Romero in mind as a default choice in the likely event that a preferred guest star would pull out of a guest appearance.

At 6' 3" he was the tallest actor to have played the Joker in a (non-fan-made) live-action Batman production. Heath Ledger was six-foot-one and Jack Nicholson was about 5' 9".

He served in the United States Coast Guard in World War II as a crane operator on the USS Cavalier. He did the same work as any other Coastie and asked for no special treatment. He saw action in Saipan and Tinian, earning two bronze battle stars on the PTO (Pacific Theater of Operations) ribbon. He mustered out as a Chief Bo'sun's Mate.

At the beginning of his career, he was advised to modify his name to "Caesar". He refused. Over the years, many people mispronounce his name as if it were spelled that way.

He was cremated after a private funeral at Inglewood Park Cemetery Mortuary. His urn was entombed in the cemetery's mausoleum, near LAX. He is one of a galaxy of luminaries that includes: Cecil B. DeMille, Edgar Bergen, Eva Gabor, Ella Fitzgerald, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Ray Charles, among others.

Is one of two Batman villains to share roles with actors who played Batman. He, Adam West and Val Kilmer have all played John "Doc" Holliday, in A Lei da Fronteira (1939), Colt .45 (1957), Lawman (1958) and Tombstone: A Justiça Está Chegando (1993), respectively. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger both played Bob Dylan in Não Estou Lá (2007).

He passed away only eighteen days after his A Ceia dos Acusados (1934) co-star Myrna Loy.

Cesar Romero passed away 12 years later on the same day as Batman (1966) Special Guest Villain Victor Buono.

Was good friends with Adam West and Joan Crawford. Crawford's children called him Uncle Butch.

Has never worked directly with George Clooney, but Clooney has starred in two remakes of movies Romero was in. Romero played the Joker on Batman (1966), and Clooney played Batman in Batman & Robin (1997). Romero also appeared in the original Onze Homens e um Segredo (1960), the remake of which -- Onze Homens e um Segredo (2001) -- starred Clooney.
