Once said Segredos de uma Novela (1991) is her personal favorite of all her films.

Irish-American. Her parents are from County Kerry and County Cork.

Grew up in Yonkers, New York.

In the 80s, while not making movies, she took a stake in a West Hollywood sports bar. Later, there would be restaurants and nightclubs. Her most successful venture was co-ownership of the Mulberry Street pizzeria chain that began with one branch in LA. Early on, she worked front of house. Her fiancé and business partner, pizza restaurant owner Richard Palmer, left her for Raquel Welch after he and Raquel met in October 1997 at Ago, the West Hollywood restaurant owned by Robert De Niro.

Co-owner of Mulberry Street Pizza restaurants (three locations around L.A.), with Raquel Welch's ex-husband (and Moriarty's ex-boyfriend) Richie Palmer.

Was set to continue working with Donald Cammell after their collaboration on O Maníaco do Olho Branco (1987), on a project called "Jericho" which would star Moriarty and Marlon Brando. However plans were soon dropped, as Brando realized he was unable to get insurance, and the film scrapped, just days before filming was to begin.

She has dual US and Irish citizenship.

Gave birth to her 3rd child at age 40, a daughter named Annabella Rose Gentile on November 15, 2001 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, New York. Child's father is her 2nd husband, Joseph Gentile.

Gave birth to her twins (her 1st & 2nd children) at age 39, a daughter named Catherine Patricia Gentile & Joseph John Gentile on September 11, 2000 in New York City. Catherine is older by 3 minutes. Children's father is her 2nd husband, Joseph Gentile.

Has appeared in three films with Robert De Niro: Touro Indomável (1980), Cop Land: A Cidade dos Tiras (1997) and A Máfia Volta ao Divã (2002).

Was Arne Glimcher's first and only choice for the role of "Lanna Lake" in Os Reis do Mambo (1992).

Received an Academy Award nomination as Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her first feature film, Touro Indomável (1980).

Appeared in two Casper the Friendly Ghost films: Gasparzinho, o Fantasminha Camarada (1995) and Gasparzinho e Wendy (1998).

No relation to Michael Moriarty, although Cathy Moriarty and Michael Moriarty have both appeared alongside Robert De Niro in films.

Her scenes in Unidos Pelo Sangue (1991) were ultimately cut.
