With his fourth film, Cornish director Mark Jenkin fuses his previous two outings into a hypnotic study of mental disintegration that, though its focus is a seemingly everyday person confronted by their demons in solitude (like his last film), makes a broader point (like the one before) about happier times in the British south-west’s economic history. To make that clearer, gentrification was the subject of his 2019 arthouse hit Bait, and creepy folklore figured strongly in his 2022 Cannes entry Enys Men. By contrast, Rose of Nevada is much more of an out-and-out genre piece than either, drifting closer to horror than the director ever has before, while retaining his haunting, glitchy, hand-distressed style, the cinematic equivalent of artist Francis Bacon’s distorted face paintings.

It’s also Jenkin’s first brush with commercial casting, pairing the established George McKay with up-and-comer Callum Turner, currently starring in this year’s silly-season Bond rumors.

John Turturro’s ‘Romance & Cigarettes’ Sets 20th Anniversary Screening at Southampton Playhouse

“Romance & Cigarettes” – an ensemble musical dramedy starring the late James Gandolfini and Kate Winslet – will mark its 20th anniversary next week with a special screening at Southampton Playhouse.

Written and directed by John Turturro, the indie project has endured two decades thanks to its risky fusion of classic MGM-style romance in a gritty, working class urban landscape. One of the Longest-Running Stephen King TV Adaptations Is Now Totally Free to Watch

As fans eagerly anticipate more adaptations of Stephen King’s noteworthy books, some of which are expected this year, including Welcome to Derry, now is the perfect time to catch up on the older adaptations. Luckily, most, if not all, are available on streaming, including this extraordinary 2002 small-screen adaptation that just got the free streaming treatment. Titled The Dead Zone, the show was created by Michael and Shawn Piller and is the second production inspired by King’s 1979 novel of the same name, following the 1983 film from David Cronenberg.

Per ComicBook, The Dead Zone has found a home on Tubi, where fans can now watch all six seasons and eighty episodes for absolutely free. The series ran from June 16, 2002, to September 16, 2007, on USA Network, where it was expected to be renewed for a seventh season. Unfortunately, that never happened due to financial concerns and the producers' fear of low ratings.

The Headless Horseman from Tim Burton‘s gothic fairy tale Sleepy Hollow is mounting up to ride again in a new sequel, this time in comic book form.

Idw Publishing’s horror imprint, Idw Dark, will release Return to Sleepy Hollow, a new comic series set 15 years after the events of the movie, EW reports this morning.

Look for the comic to hit shelves on October 29.

In the 1999 film, Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of three people.
