Even with his reputation as an actor firmly established, Tim Roth still tends bar from time to time.

He and Gary Oldman are very good friends from back in the days of when they worked in London theater. They have appeared together in Meantime (1983) and Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Estão Mortos (1990).

Roth is a survivor of child sexual abuse committed by his paternal grandfather, who he has stated sexually abused him from childhood until his early teen years. He first revealed that he was a survivor of sexual abuse during press for his directorial debut, Zona de Conflito (1999) (which dealt with the topics of incest and sexual violence within a family), but declined to name the perpetrator at that time. In December of 2016, he gave an interview to the British newspaper The Guardian in which he revealed that his abuser was his grandfather, who had also sexually abused Roth's own father when he was a child.

Was considered as a replacement for Anthony Hopkins, when Hopkins was reluctant to return to play Hannibal Lector in Hannibal (2001). However, in the end, Hopkins accepted the role.

I have a bad time between jobs because I'm always convinced I'll never work again. I think it may be an English thing, this fear of unemployment.

[on Gridlock'd - Na Contra-Mão (1997) co-star Tupac Shakur] I found him to be incredibly talented. I used to call him "New Money" because he had a massive Bentley and a different model sat in the car each day, and he used to call me "Free Shit" because I always used to get loads of free stuff from companies. It's a shame what happened - I think he could have gone on to be quite something as an actor.

I've never really played a goody in the traditional sense. Anyway, I don't think that I look the part of a heroic character, especially not in Hollywood, so they never really come up. On a childish level, villains are just more fun.
