Sharon Stone has been in Hollywood for decades, but she says respect on set has been rare. In a recent interview with Variety, the actress shared that in her long career she has only worked with two male co-stars who she considered “not misogynistic,” Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.
Stone, who became a global star after her breakout role in Paul Verhoeven’s 1992 thriller Basic Instinct, has long been a target of sexism in the industry.
Her most infamous moment came from the film’s interrogation scene, where her character uncrosses her legs. The brief but controversial shot exposed her without underwear, something Stone has said she was not warned about before filming.

Courtrooms in movies are wild. One second, it’s all boring legal jargon, and the next boom, someone drops a line so iconic it ends up living rent-free in pop culture forever. These scenes aren’t just about the law; they’re about people snapping under pressure, lawyers pulling off miracle arguments, and judges trying to keep total chaos under control.
What makes courtroom dramas so addictive is that they feel like the ultimate showdown. No explosions, no car chases, just raw tension, big speeches, and the kind of twists that make you yell at your screen. They remind us that justice isn’t always clean, and sometimes the most...

Long considered to be one of the best in the game, getting a positive sign-off from Steven Spielberg is something that many filmmakers aspire to achieve. With numerous Academy Award nominations and three wins under his belt, the visionary behind such favorites as Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Saving Private Ryan, and more is a pioneer of the craft. But what film does Spielberg look to when he’s searching for inspiration? The answer lies with one of the other industry greats who has also been both awarded and nominated for multiple Oscars — Martin Scorsese. Back in 2022, Spielberg wrote an opinion piece surrounding one of Scorsese’s most celebrated projects,...

Jerry Adler, the celebrated character actor best remembered as Hesh on The Sopranos, died Saturday in New York at age 96. The casting director, Donna Isaacson, had credits that included 10 years of Coen brothers movies and would soon be named head of casting at Fox. In other words, she was an ace.
Donna and I, though, were having trouble filling the key role of the photographer’s longtime friend, Arthur Nabler, a Daily News columnist in his 60s who has recently had his writings adapted into a hit Broadway show.

Ralph Macchio is best known for his roles in The Karate Kid movies and their spinoff show, Cobra Kai. But he also played a recurring character in the procedural comedy Psych, and reprised the role in the spinoff movie. Macchio played the role of the anxious yet stern police instructor Nick Conforth.
Macchio has played Daniel La Russo for a better part of his career, starting in the ‘80s with The Karate Kid. After appearing in two more movies, he reprised the role in the spinoff series Cobra Kai, which became an instant hit. He reprised the role again in this year’s The Karate Kid: Legends, which saw him team up with Jackie Chan.

Some horror films aim to terrify, others to shock, but Salt Along the Tongue works its way under the skin with something stranger and more poetic. The latest feature from Italian-Australian filmmaker Parish Malfitano, the film explores grief, possession, superstition and family bonds, all filtered through the sensuous language of food. When a mother uses her daughter as a vessel to ward off a malevolent spirit, the result is a story that sits somewhere between melodrama, camp, witchcraft and intimate family tragedy.

Home Alone director Chris Columbus addresses whether he would return for a reboot, explaining why it's not a good idea. Released in 1990, the Christmas movie stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old troublemaker who must fend off two bumbling burglars after his family forgets to take him on vacation with them.
The film, which also stars Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, and Catherine O'Hara, is widely regarded as a Christmas classic. It was followed by one direct sequel with Culkin, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992), and four subsequent films with different actors.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Columbus makes clear that he won't be making a Home Alone reboot anytime soon. According to the director, the 1990 film captures something unique that can not be replicated today. Check out his comment below:

We may need to get through the spooky season first, but that doesn't mean there is a bad time to talk about Home Alone, the seminal Christmas classic that continues to entertain a generation of movie watchers years after its 1990 release. It's a staple of just about anyone's holiday season, and it's a sacred movie for many of its fans, as well as for the people who had a part in bringing the film to life. Director Chris Columbus, who was in the director's chair on the first film and its first sequel, is speaking about his holiday classic, and the one thing he believes would be a big mistake is to give the movie the reboot treatment.

Pete Davidson says he ended Peacock’s Bupkis despite a Season 2 renewal and that the move briefly put him “in purgatory” with NBCUniversal, describing the company’s reaction as “not pleased.” In a new radio interview, the comedian said he “got in trouble” after deciding the semi-autobiographical show kept dragging his real life into the spotlight, adding that a proposed creative direction made him uncomfortable. He also said he covered costs for staff affected by the decision: “I took care of the writers’ room and anyone who didn’t get paid that needed to.”
The remarks clarify a March 2024 announcement that halted the series after one season, less than a year after it had been picked up for more episodes. At the time, Davidson framed the choice as closing a chapter, while thanking collaborators and the network. Chris Columbus is making it clear that the classic Christmas comedy Home Alone should not be remade. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Columbus said a reboot would be a huge mistake.

This week, we learned that the Irish production company ie: entertainment is currently working on a biopic about the life and career of the iconic singer/songwriter and activist Sinéad O’Connor. Perhaps Lorne Michaels could play the Pope.

Although it remains one of her best and most important films, making Casino wasn't easy for Sharon Stone. It was an opportunity to star alongside an actor she'd always admired, and she gave a masterful performance as her character, Ginger McKenna, spiraled into self-destruction. However, the gangster classic wasn't an effortless ride for the Academy Award nominee because her partner in the film, Robert De Niro, may have "crossed a line" by challenging her.
Stone, who will soon appear in the action sequel Nobody 2, recently spoke with Business Insider about her prolific career, which has found her playing memorable characters across genres in films such as Basic Instinct, Total Recall, and (of course) Casino. When talking about the production of the Martin Scorsese crime drama, Stone recalled a particular exchange with De Niro. She was an admirer of his craft, but it was also hard to act opposite him.

Sharon Stone was destined for stardom and exploded with it in the ‘90s with films like Basic Instinct. In 1995, she earned a much-deserved Oscar nomination for playing Ginger, the wife to Robert De Niro’s Sam “Ace” Rothstein. Thirty years after the release of Casino, Sharon Stone is remembering her time working with both De Niro and Joe Pesci on Martin Scorsese’s epic.
When asked by Business Insider how Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci compare on the set of Casino, Stone said, “It’s apples and oranges. Joey really, really fought for me to be seen and get the job. So I have a serious loyalty to Joey because he’s always backed me. It was always Joey and Jimmy Caan. They backed me since I was 19.”
As for Robert De Niro in particular, Sharon Stone said that they didn’t exactly have the best relationship while making Casino.

Netflix has no lack of great crime movies for those looking for a great story about smash-and-grab robberies, lifetime criminals or even thieving magicians. Below, we’ve put together a curated list of some of the best crime movies on Netflix right now, ranging from Oscar-winning dramas to underseen indies and beyond. There’s a little something for everyone, which speaks to the diversity of stories inside the crime genre.
The Departed Jack Nicholson and Matt Damon in “The Departed” (Warner Bros. Pictures)
Despite being the man behind classics like “Raging Bull,” “Taxi Driver” and “The King of Comedy,” Martin Scorsese didn’t win his first Oscar until 2006’s “The Departed,” a fairly straightforward crime thriller with tremendous commercial appeal. That’s not to ding “The Departed” – the movie’s a rich and wildly entertaining crime saga – but it was surprising that it was this film that finally netted Scorsese the trophy.

That’s not to ding “The Departed” – the movie’s a rich and wildly entertaining crime saga – but it was surprising that it was this film that finally netted Scorsese the trophy.

Sharon Stone is looking back on her time filming the classic 1995 movie Casino, and she had a lot to say about her co-stars Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. In a conversation with Business Insider, she shared stories from the set and revealed one moment with De Niro that really got under her skin.
Stone said her friendship with Joe Pesci goes way back. “Joey really, really fought for me to be seen and get the job. So I have a serious loyalty to Joey because he’s always backed me,” she said. She also mentioned James Caan as someone who had her back early in her career. “It was always Joey and Jimmy Caan. They backed me since I was 19.”
As for De Niro, Stone said she had been hoping to work with him for years but didn’t get the chance until Casino. “I had auditioned with him many times before Casino.

Despite being its most obvious inspiration, Martin Scorsese reportedly did not like The Sopranos because of all the New Jersey trees in the show. The HBO crime drama, created by David Chase and starring Michael Gandolfini, followed Tony Soprano, the head of the crime family in New Jersey, and his everyday life. It covered not only his criminal activities but also his home life and mental health.
Chase has credited Scorsese’s Goodfellas multiple times for inspiring the show, but the filmmaker reportedly did not take to the New Jersey setting. Scorsese rejected the series, claiming that he did not understand the life Chase was trying to depict (via THR).
I think I only saw one episode … because I can’t identify with that generation of the underworld. They live in New Jersey with the big houses? I don’t get it. They use language – four-letter words – in front of their daughters,...

Macaulay Culkin has revealed which Home Alone film is better out of the two films he acted in the franchise. While many of the viewers may side with the original film of 1990, Culkin actually loved the second film, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. He had a valid, straightforward reason to find the sequel a better film, and it was not the cameo from Donald Trump.
During his appearance on Hot Ones recently, Culkin shared that he “got paid more” for the second film. He further explained that he made a good fortune from the deal he made for the film. He shared, “I think I own five percent of the net. I also [get] 15 percent of the merchandising. So, if you buy a Talkboy, I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ll take a percent of that. Thank you very much.’”
Culkin saw a huge jump in his paycheck from the first film to its sequel.

“Home Alone” favorite Macaulay Culkin appeared on the latest episode of “Hot Ones” and got asked to pick his favorite movie in which he played Kevin McCallister. Does Culkin prefer the 1990 original “Home Alone” or its 1992 sequel, “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”? It turns out the answer is not too complicated for the former child star.
Culkin did not hesitate to answer “Home Alone” 2 and quipped: “I got paid more. I think I own five percent of the net. And also 15 perfect of the merchandising. So, if you buy a Talkboy I’m like yeah, I’ll take 15 percent of that. Thank you very much. By the way, buy a Talkboy this Christmas.”

Batman: Broken Promise came like the oncoming storm during a time when fan-edits and fan animations were slowly taking over the world. Social media now floods with such edits, but it was Stephen Trumble’s piece that stood out like an unlikely ray of hope. FandomWire got the opportunity to interview the creator of the animated short, and never could we have imagined just how the project came to be.
Fan animations in today’s day and age highlight something that has been in gradual growth for years: animation as a medium of complete and free expression. Released in 2022, Batman: Broken Promise took two years to make, with a dream that any fan can have. Trumble just did one thing differently; he took his pen and started drawing out that dream.

Viewers often debate which Home Alone movie was the better artistic achievement. The domestic-based original, a fun house full of traps, or the big city, blockbuster vibes of New York City. For the movie's star, though, the sequel comes out on top. Why? It's quite easy.
“I got paid more,” said Macaulay Culkin, with a smirk, when asked why he prefers Home Alone 2: Lost in New York to the original. During a recent interview, Culkin didn’t hesitate in explaining just how big a deal the sequel was, bigger than many people even realized: “I think I own five percent of the net. The Home Alone icon appeared for the Season 27 finale of Hot Ones, out now.
During the appearance, he discussed showing The Suite Life of Zack & Cody to his kids so they can see their mom Brenda Song, not wanting to raise nepo babies, Joe Pesci trying to make him think he was mean on the set of Home Alone, Home Alone 2 being better than Home Alone because he got paid more, missing the script for Rushmore, which went to Jason Schwartzman and his dream WWE matches, among other topics.
Keep reading to find out more…
On his dream WWE matches if he could script them:
“I would do Shawn Michaels versus Ricky “the Dragon” Steamboat in a ladder match. You know what I mean. I would love to see peak Andre versus Brock Lesnar. You know what I mean.

It’s been more than 30 years since the release of My Cousin Vinny, and it remains one of the most beloved comedies surrounding a legal mishap. The Ralph Macchio starrer is an underrated gem in his filmography, and it’s begging for a comeback with its 85% critic and 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes!
Karate Kid: Legends‘ reception was underwhelming, so if My Cousin Vinny ever gets a sequel, Macchio would have the golden opportunity to show off his comedic and dramatic chops outside the Miyagi-verse. The 1992 movie is directed by Jonathan Lynch and stars Oscar-winners like Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei.
So, here’s why the movie deserves a second installment that could potentially redeem Macchio.

The ‘Lethal Weapon’ series, a cornerstone of action cinema, is making a big move. Starting August 1, 2025, all four movies will be available to stream for free on Tubi. This marks a rare moment when the entire franchise, starring Mel Gibson as the wild Martin Riggs and Danny Glover as the steady Roger Murtaugh, lands on one platform together.
The first film, released in 1987, kicked off the buddy-cop genre with a bang. Directed by Richard Donner and written by Shane Black, it follows Riggs, a grieving ex-Special Forces cop, and Murtaugh, a family man nearing retirement, as they tackle a drug-smuggling ring. Their clashing styles—Riggs’ reckless energy versus Murtaugh’s cautious wisdom—sparked iconic chemistry that carried the series.
‘Lethal Weapon 2’ in 1989 upped the stakes with Joe Pesci joining as the fast-talking Leo Getz. The trio takes on South African smugglers, blending high-octane chases with sharp humor. The 1992 sequel,...

It's Christmas in July! Well, that's if you ask any holiday season fanatic. Despite being the heart of summer, this is the time of year when companies start unveiling their products for the upcomingChristmas season. Funko is no different, as they've been slowly unwrapping what Pop figure collectors can expect for “the most wonderful time of the year.” Now, they've dusted off their snow shovels and prepared their house for war with their latest Pop wave for Home Alone.
Specifically, based on Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, there are three new Pops in this Funko set. There's Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), Marv (Daniel Stern), and Harry (Joe Pesci). The latter two “Wet Bandits” are looking a little worse for wear as Harry’s head is completely on fire and Marv was almost electrocuted to death. You can tell by his hair humorously sticking all the way up. This...

The hype around Pete Davidson as a movie star has seemingly dissipated as he stepped back into stand-up comedy. While the actor and comedian continues to have a strong presence in popular culture, he has taken a step towards more cameos and voice acting performances over the past two years. However, The Home gives him a legitimate starring vehicle for the first time since Bupkis. It also allows him to team up with horror director James DeMonaco, best known for his work on The Purge franchise. While Davidson does his best to keep The Home interesting, there are a few too many tropes in the flick. The amazing finale almost makes the entire endeavor worthwhile.
The Home Plot
After years in the foster home system, Max (Davidson) struggles to find his place in the outside world. After another arrest, his foster parents get him a new job at an elderly care home.

Guillermo del Toro considered Goodfellas to be a perfect movie, but it lost the Best Picture award at the Oscars to Kevin Costner’s Dances With Wolves in 1991. Martin Scorsese’s hard-hitting mob drama being beaten by a Western epic became one of the most controversial outcomes in the Academy’s history.
It was Costner’s debut behind the camera and featured a heartfelt historical saga. On the other hand, Goodfellas was a movie that redefined gangster movies and inspired a new generation of directors. In a statement to Far Out Magazine, here’s what del Toro said about Scorsese’s crime classic:
A movie that can be rewatched endlessly and remains fresh and surprising. Perfect in every aspect, behind and in front of the camera.
The director’s high praise only reinforces what cinephiles have believed for a long time about Goodfellas being a cinematic revolution. So why didn’t it win?...

After streaming on Pluto TV in July, Mel Gibson's iconic 1980s action comedy franchise will continue to be available on free streaming, albeit in a different home. As part of an exciting slate of action-packed films, Tubi is adding Lethal Weapon and its three sequels, starring Gibson and Danny Glover, to the platform to help close out the summer with a bang. Debuting in 1987, it's the prototypical buddy cop movie franchise and the perfect watch for when the weather is hot and the mood calls for something a bit more explosive. The films will all be available starting on August 1, alongside the Jason Statham-led The Meg, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Baby Driver, among other titles.

Ari Aster is expanding the fictional town of Eddington into Queens, NY. The auteur is partnering with the Museum of the Moving Image to host the new film series “Eddington City Limits,” highlighting the features that inspired his acclaimed Covid-set Western.
Aster will be in attendance for two out of the five films that will screen; the program ranges from Robert Altman’s iconic “Nashville” to Lars von Trier’s beloved “Dogville.” The series is co-programmed by Aster and MoMI Senior Curator of Film Michael Koresky, and will take place from August 15 to 31. “Eddington” opens in theaters today, July 18.
As the description for the film series states, “Eddington City Limits” will include “movies that both directly inspired or echo the escalating madness of ‘Eddington,’ depicting powder-keg communities ready to spill over into violence or enclosed worlds so given to conspiracy and obsession that there’s no longer any sense of coherent reality.

Bill Hader is a certified film nerd, a walking, talking Letterboxd account ready to discuss Federico Fellini or Billy Wilder at the drop of a hat. So it was no wonder that he geeked out when esteemed movie director Martin Scorsese dropped by Saturday Night Live for a comedy cameo.
While Scorsese has never hosted, he has a long history with the show and Lorne Michaels, according to Lorne: The Man Who Invented Saturday Night Live. Scorsese met up with Michaels in Italy at a Bob Dylan concert afterparty in the 1970s. A man whom Michaels identified as a dealer connected to Scorsese laid out lines of powder that sent several sniffers vomiting out a window; Scorsese was hospitalized for addiction soon thereafter.

Mel Gibson will always be known for his Oscar-level work in grandiose epics like Braveheart and The Patriot, but almost 40 years ago, he teamed up with Danny Glover for a classic crime thriller that’s stumbled back to streaming success. Gibson and Glover star alongside Gary Busey and Mitchell Ryan in Lethal Weapon, the 1987 action classic following two nearly-paired polar opposite police officers who must put aside their differences to stop a gang of drug smugglers. Lethal Weapon is currently streaming for free on Pluto TV in America, where it’s one of the most popular movies for the streamer, sitting at #8 at the time of writing. The film grossed $120 million against a modest $12 million budget, and it also earned scores of 81% from critics and 86% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

Martin Scorsese’s Casino turns 30 in 2025, but despite being a classic in its own right, the movie has been heavily overshadowed by Goodfellas. It was released in 1995 and brought back Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci for another mafia epic, but this time they were in the glitzy and cutthroat world of Las Vegas.
The movie also starred Sharon Stone in an amazing and show-stealing role that even earned her an Oscar nomination. But no matter how great a case we make for Casino, it will always be seen as a companion piece to Goodfellas, or like a spiritual successor of the movie. This bias has resulted in a phenomenal gangster movie never quite getting the recognition that it truly deserves!

When you look in the movie dictionary under "journeyman director," you'll see a picture of Richard Donner. Okay, no such dictionary exists, but if it did, Donner would be there, and deservedly so. While the "auteur theory" gets deployed by critics (*cough* film snobs *cough*), far less attention is paid to the journeyman directors like Donner. These are filmmakers who don't see themselves as "artists" infusing their work with similar styles or themes, but as hard-working craftsmen who want to make a good movie. And when you look over Donner's 20-plus film career, and the remarkable diversity of pictures he produced, you'll see he did just that.
