One of the longest-running pro wrestling myths states that he is actually the second wrestler to portray the Ultimate Warrior, as the original died of steroid use in the 1980s. Evidence used to support this myth is that the "second Warrior" had lighter hair and was bulkier in physique. However, this is just one of many pro wrestling myths with little factual basis. Hellwig is the only wrestler to portray the Ultimate Warrior in any form.

Once while performing in El Paso, Texas, visited a well-known strip club called "Prince Machiavelli's." The manager offered him a job as the head bouncer in the event that his wrestling career didn't work out.

Won a five-year-long lawsuit against WWF/Titan Sports/Vince McMahon in 2000 regarding the use of his names "The Warrior" and "Ultimate Warrior". He legally changed his name to "Warrior" before the lawsuit, in fact, even before he joined the WWF, because he wanted to get back into wrestling after his father had died, and he didn't want to carry on his father's legacy (having fallen out with him many years before). Was fired from the WWE in 1991, following a salary dispute with Vince McMahon backstage at Summerslam. The Warrior refused to perform at the main event - as Hulk Hogan's tag team partner - until he was paid what he felt he was due.

Was fired three times by Vince McMahon (WWE): 1991 (writing an infamous letter threatening to no show events until he got a significant raise); 1992 (failing a drug test); 1996 (failing to show up for WWE events).

Invented the term, 'Warriorism'

In 1990, the Warrior went on tour with the Legion of Doom tag team, as they had a series of matches against all three members of Demolition.

Upon his return to the WWE in 1992, the Warrior was scheduled for a story angle with Sid Justice. This was curtailed after Justice left the company, so Papa Shango replaced him.

Came to the rescue of Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 8.

Inducted into the Greater Illiana [Illinois/Indiana] Sports Hall of Fame in 2022 (inaugural class).

For the main event at "Summerslam '92," the Warrior was to become a heel and join up with Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect. Then at the last minute, the Warrior refused and remained a baby face.

As part of the Ultimate Maniacs team, the Warrior and Randy Savage defeated WWF tag team champions Money Inc. via count-out. The match was recorded on "Saturday Night's Main Event," October 1992.

Had a series of cage matches against Sgt. Slaughter in late 1990/early '91 - losing most of them.
