- Good friend of Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar. Veloso appears briefly in Almodóvar's Fale com Ela (2002).
- He's a great fan of Federico Fellini. He even recorded songs in Italian and an entire album of Fellini-related material in homage to him. Veloso has said repeatedly that A Estrada da Vida (1954) was a primary influence on his life and work.
- In 2004 he released his first CD all in English: "A Foreign Sound".
- Caetano worked in some soundtracks for movies like for Pedro Almodóvar's movie "Hable con ella" (2002).
- Caetano Veloso is one of Brazilian biggest names of MPB (Música Popular Brasileira - Brazilian Popular Music).
- The status of popular Brazilian music in a worldwide perspective changed when bossa nova reached the world through the United States. That was in the early 60s. The film Orfeu do Carnaval (1959) had a lot to do with that, although it was not a good film - in Brazil we don't like that one. But the music was fantastic, and for most foreigners it was the first encounter with bossa nova.
- My role is to change people's minds.
