After a handful of appearances as Guy Fieri on Weekend Update, Bobby Moynihan took the impression to a whole new level on a December 2013 episode of SNL. The pre-taped fake Food Network promo began with Moynihan’s Fieri cackling like a madman while promoting “Guy Fieri’s Full Throttle Christmas Special,” co-hosted by Kid Rock (Brooks Wheelan), who enters via chimney.

Fieri/Moynihan then goes on to name-drop an insane parade of early 2010s reality TV personalities as the special’s guest stars — Criss Angel, Bret Michaels, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Big Ang from Mob Wives, the casts of Duck Dynasty and Pawn Stars — as well as, for no reason whatsoever, Verne Troyer and Mimi from The Drew Carey Show.

The promo also features the most insane Guy Fieri-like Christmas recipes imaginable, such as a stocking filled with bean dip and “Straight Cake” — as opposed to fruit cake — made from bacon and Matchbox cars.

Carrie Fisher was hesitant to enter Austin Powers’ groovy world. The star had a small role in 1997 film “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” but, according to director Jay Roach, Fisher was “so nervous” about the bit part. Fisher played a family therapist who works with Mike Myers’ Dr. Evil, his clone Mini-Me (Verne Troyer), and son Scott Evil (Seth Green).

“One of my favorite days of shooting ‘Austin’ was when Carrie Fisher played the therapist,” Roach wrote in a piece for Vulture. “She was so nervous about it, and she didn’t know if she could be funny. Every since he walked off the screen as Austin Powers for the last time in 2002’s Austin Powers In Goldmember, Mike Myers has been fielding questions about a possible Austin Powers 4. Myers has taken on very, very few big screen roles in the last 20 years, but occasional rumblings have popped up about a new Austin Power adventure. Turns out, it might actually be happening.

Over at World Of Reel, it’s reporting that Austin Powers 4 has been developed in secret for at least the last year. The first three films were released by New Line Cinema, which has been entirely swallowed up by Warner Bros now. Warner Bros will this be backing the new film.

Jay Roach, the director of the original trilogy, is said to be back on board.

It is absolutely wild to think that Robin Williams got passed over for the part of Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter series because he wasn’t British! Now, while David Thewlis undoubtedly did justice to the character, one can’t help but wonder what kind of magic Williams could have brought to the role. Pinocchio: Unstrung is the latest public domain horror movie announced by the team behind Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and Bambi: The Reckoning. The movie will be a horror retelling of Pinocchio that is teased in the end credits of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. Additional details about the movie will be announced soon, including the cast and crew.

Pinocchio will be the character at the center of the latest public domain horror remake, Pinocchio: Unstrung. The version of Pinocchio that is perhaps the best known is the 1940 animated feature, which is the second movie in the Disney animated canon following their debut feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. However, the Disney movie is itself based on the 1883 Carlo Collodi children's book The Adventures of Pinocchio, which is in the public domain.

Horror has had many periods and the late 1990s were very much for self-referential films, dark humor, and cameos. Wishmaster, or Wes Craven’s Wishmaster (watch it Here) as it was marketed at the time, is more on the dark humor side of things than self-referential. He hasn't dabbled in horror too often, but he is producing the buzzy upcoming Stephen King adaptation The Boogeyman.

Per Deadline, Sony is developing a feature adaptation of the Dutch short film Gnomes by Richard Raaphorst and Ruwan Heggelman. There is currently no director attached, but Levy is on hand to produce alongside his 21 Laps cohorts Dan Cohen and Dan Levine. The screenplay is currently being written by Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari, who previously collaborated on the MCU outing Ant-Man and the Wasp.

No one sets out to make a cult movie. Most filmmakers aspire to commercial heights even if they only have the budgets for a B-movie. Very few achieve it, and the ones which do usually do it by accident, and certainly not with serious intent. Aliens, Clowns & Geeks is not afraid to be ridiculous. It joins the ranks as such brave films as Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, and Frankenhooker.

It is also so much more than these films, dripping with artistry, and yet considerably less, with masturbating aliens, pussy ping pong, and sphincter-pinching obelisks. It's been nearly two decades since we last saw the International Man of Mystery grace the big screen, but Austin Powers 4 is still in the cards. While nothing is officially in the works yet, it's something director Jay Roach and Mike Myers discuss frequently, and it's just a matter of hammering the right story down. I recently had the chance to speak with Jay Roach in honor of his latest movie Bombshell, which recently arrived on Blu-ray. Scifi comedy Aliens, Clowns & Geeks release date set for Mexico’s Dia de los Muertos celebration.

A cult classic in the making will debut at a tribute to a horror classic during a celebration of the dead. The upcoming science fiction comedy Aliens, Clowns & Geeks, which features Verne Troyer in his last role, will premiere at the Morbido Film Fest, Latin America’s premiere genre film festival. The festival takes place in Mexico City from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3 and includes immersive events that intertwine with Mexico’s Dia de los Muertos celebration.

Aliens, Clowns & Geeks is directed by Richard Elfman, who helmed the cult classic Forbidden Zone. Elfman's live theatrical pre-shows for that film are legendary and the tradition will continue. Forbidden Zone director Richard Elfman pulls a movie with the key to the universe out of his butt in Hipsters, Gangsters, Aliens & Geeks.

In the pantheon of cult movies, Forbidden Zone stands at high midnight. Richard Elfman's 1980 Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo vehicle was a one-of-a-kind film careening down on a one-way street to an oddly predestined end. On the clock of Midnight Movies, his upcoming Hipsters, Gangsters, Aliens & Geeks runs sometime after 3 a.m., striking after the popcorn has been swept under the seats by the night crew. Independent to its core and featuring Austin Powers' Verne Troyer in his last role, the movie cannot be brushed aside by the barrage of blockbusters. Hipsters, Gangsters, Aliens & Geeks is the antidote to mainstream and a breakneck cure for the run-of-the-mill.

Shot in a fast-paced, classic screen-comedy style, the film is intra-dimensional, extraterrestrial and sonically grounded.

Austin Powers 4 has been rumored for years now. Mike Myers has teased it numerous times, but it doesn't look like it will happen now unless the actor figures out something to do without having the late Vern Troyer around. Director Jay Roach is unsure how the franchise would even move forward without Troyer, and fans will probably agree. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, which introduced Troyer's Mini-Me to the world.

Verne Troyer's Mini-Me stole all of The Spy Who Shagged Me scenes he was in and according to Jay Roach, his story was going to get a bigger focus if Austin Powers 4 ever got off of the ground. Mike Myers has talked about the idea a lot over the years, but nothing has gotten past the initial writing phase. Roach had this to say when asked about a potential Austin Powers 4.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been over 20 years since Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me released in theaters. The follow up to 1997’s International Man of Mystery proved to be a huge success, grossing over $300 million at the box office, and even snagging an Academy Award nomination for Best Makeup. As many will know, the third film in the series, Goldmember, came out a few years later, but ever since, the franchise has been lying dormant, although Mike Myers occasionally reprises his role as Dr. Evil on late-night TV.

While it’s largely flown under the radar, it turns out a fourth movie has been in the works for well over a decade, though it’s safe to say it’s stuck in development hell. Multiple reports indicate that the sequel could focus on Dr. Evil and his son, though it’s not entirely clear if a finished script even exists.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,” director Jay Roach sat down with The Independent for an interview reflecting on the unexpected success of the Mike Myers-led spy comedy franchise. Roach has been behind the camera for all three “Austin Powers” films and says he remains open to directing a fourth film. The last “Austin Powers” movie, “Goldmember,” opened in July 2002 and grossed just under $300 million worldwide.

“We’ve been trying to think up an idea that could earn a fourth film for a long time, but it’s always up to Mike,” Roach said. “He and I always thought there was more to do with Dr. Evil.”

“Green Book” shouldn’t have been able to win. In an era where representation and diversity is of paramount importance, it was another movie about race relations from the perspective of the white man. The reviews were middling, it didn’t have a Best Director nomination, it lost at the Writers Guild Awards and it was up against Netflix’s big-money campaign for the year’s clear critical favorite, “Roma.”

“Green Book” should have been the wrong movie at the wrong time, too divisive to be named Best Picture at the 91st Academy Awards. But this was a year when almost everything was divisive — there was no consensus choice to sweep to a win, which opened the door for a film with strong negatives to win the top prize, because it also made a lot of people feel good when they saw it.

“Singin’ in the Rain” director Stanley Donen, Sondra Locke, the Oscar-nominated actress and former partner of Clint Eastwood, Verne Troyer, character actor Dick Miller and Golden Globe nominee R. Lee Ermey were omitted during the Oscars’ In Memoriam tribute on Sunday.

Carol Channing, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the 1967 film “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and died in January, was also omitted during the tribute to showbiz people who died in the past year.

Gustavo Dudamel conducted the Los Angeles Philarmonic to a track from 1978’s “Superman: The Movie.”

Donen, whose death was announced Saturday at the age of 94, helped reinvent the big-screen musical, with a series of hits that included “On the Town,” 1954’s “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” 1957’s “The Pajama Game,” 1958’s “Damn Yankees!” and 1957’s “Funny Face,” with Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire.

For Sunday’s Oscars 2019 ceremony, producers had a difficult decision of which film industry people would make the cut and who would be left out of the “In Memoriam.” For the segment, Gustavo Dudamel and the L.A. Philharmonic performed music by Oscar winner John Williams.

Each year the Academy Awards pays tribute to those actors and industryites who died during the preceding year with a heartfelt montage sequence. This year’s In Memoriam segment unspooled with John Williams’s theme from “Superman” played by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, led by Gustavo Dudamel, over photos of actors, filmmakers and many others who died between March 2018 and February 2019. Although the montage usually features the most prominent names getting slightly longer clips at the end, this year’s segment didn’t follow that tradition.

The SAG Awards took time to remember the actors, directors, producers and behind-the-scenes crew members who died in the last year. Late stars Penny Marshall, Burt Reynolds and Margot Kidder were among the television and film personnel honored at Sunday’s awards show.

Other notable mentions included Verne Troyer, Bob Einstein and Carol Channing.

Reynolds died in September at age 82. While the actor and sex symbol experienced health issues such a 2010 bypass surgery and deteriorating mobility over the years, his niece, Nancy Lee Hess, said in a statement to People at the time that Reynolds’ death was “totally unexpected.”

Every year, the Oscars, Emmys and Grammys must choose which notable performers and creators to memorialize in their In Memoriam segments, and the three organizations will have many talented entertainers to remember at 2019’s ceremonies.

The past year saw the loss of celebrated stars of the big screen, such “Smokey and the Bandit” star Burt Reynolds, who died Sept. 6. Reynolds, who was 82, earned an Oscar nom for “Boogie Nights” and also appeared on television in “Evening Shade.”

Among the other notable movie performers lost this year were “Superman” and “Smallville” actress Margot Kidder, who died May 13; “The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter” star Sondra Locke, who was also a film director and died Nov. 3; and Susan Anspach, who starred in “Five Easy Pieces” and “Blume in Love” and died April 2.

Detroit TV meteorologist Jessica Starr, whose death was reported Thursday, hanged herself, the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office in Michigan told TheWrap on Thursday.

A representative for the medical examiner’s office said that Starr’s cause of death was hanging, while the manner of death was determined to be suicide.

Starr was 35.

Starr’s station, Wjbk Fox 2 in Detroit, addressed her death Thursday, calling the news “heartbreaking.”
