Universal Pictures has revealed new art for the highly anticipated Wicked: For Good, which is set to open in theaters on November 21, 2025. Amanda Seyfried recently shared how much effort she put into trying to land the role of Glinda in the Wicked movie. In a podcast interview, the actor revealed she auditioned six times for the part but eventually lost it to Ariana Grande.

Seyfried talked about her experience on the In The Envelope podcast. Even though she had a packed schedule, she made time to prepare and audition for the film. “I was busy. I barely had time to do it, but I made it work,” she said. “I worked my ass off for years and years and years on that music.”

The Wicked movie is a big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical, which is based on a novel about the backstory of the Wicked Witch of the West. The film was a box office success when it was released last year, earning over $100 million during its opening weekend in the U.

In an interview with ExtraTV, Tony Award-winner Kristin Chenoweth confirmed that she won’t be making a cameo in Wicked: For Good. Chenoweth played Glinda in the original Broadway production of Wicked alongside Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel’s Elphaba. Universal just released the trailer for Wicked: For Good, which will hit theaters November 21 — and Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba and Ariana Grande's Glinda are back in perfect pitch, along with Michelle Yeoh (Madame Morrible), Jeff Goldblum (the Wizard), Jonathan Bailey (Fiyero) — and a barrel of flying monkeys.

The trailer also reveals a sneak peek of Dorothy and her friends, including the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and, of course, Toto.

The film is directed by Jon M. Chu and is written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox.

The first Wicked film, which collected $750 million at the box office, earned 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Lead Actress for Erivo, Supporting Actress for Grande, Costume Design, Editing, Makeup and Hairstyling, Production Design, Original Score, Sound, and Visual Effects — and won for costume design and production design.

Like a comet pulled from orbit, Universal has changed the trajectory of “Wicked” fans’ lives for good with Wednesday’s “Wicked: For Good” trailer.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande return as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively, in Jon M. Chu’s musical sequel, which is set to premiere on Nov. 21. The movie will come out almost one year to the day after “Wicked: Part 1” premiered on Nov. 22, 2024.

Following the success of the first part, Wicked, the sequel is set to premiere this November. Originally titled Wicked: Part Two, the musical was renamed Wicked: For Good, which is a reference to the second-to-last song in the musical's Act 2, a powerful duet between Glinda and Elphaba.
