Had his first child, a daughter Scout Edie Stewart, on 9 May 2012. Child's mother is his Packed to the Rafters (2008) co-star and former fiancée Jessica Marais.

Studied Drama at University in Brisbane.

Natural son of Arthur Koo, former Australian soldier who served in the Vietnam War, by Beverly Stewart, who studied to become a teacher and graduated with honours in English and Literature at Monash University while she was raising her children as a single parent.

Identical twin brother of Nicholas Stewart, of Scottish, Irish and Chinese descent, and younger half-brother of Anne "Annie" Stewart.

When in primary school, his mother drove him and his brother around Australia for a year in a caravan. His sister stayed in Melbourne for school, while he and Nicholas were home-schooled. The family eventually settled on the Gold Coast, in Queensland.

Joined the band george alongside his brother Nicholas, Tyrone Noonan and his then-housemate Katie Noonan in 1996, later leaving the band to pursue a full-time acting career.
