Moustachoied, debonair leading actor, best remembered on screen for playing The Saint in two 1940's British films: As Férias do Santo (1941) and O Santo Encontra o Tigre (1941).

London-born actor trained for stage work at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Made his theatre debut in 1922 with "The Rose and the Ring."

Father, with (Mary) Rosalie Williams, of two sons.

The son of a clergyman, educated at Charterhouse School.
